Doubt it, they have made some good signings. Hasslebank, Teale and Thompson are decent SPL signings

Early season optimism says Aberdeen are definitely gonna finish top 6, possibly even 4th....

Craig Brown has put a spine back into our team. We've signed a cracking goalie on loan from Man City (Gonzalez), a solid back up goalie from Blackburn (Brown), a couple of cracking CB's (Mawene & Arnason), a beast of a CM (Osbourne) and a couple of pacey players that can play wide midfield or full back (Chris Clark from Plymouth and Ricky Foster returning from der hun). We also have Peter Pawlett and Fraser Fyvie back from injury, both of whom are special talents who we expect to shine this season.
We just need replacements for Chris McGuire and Sone Aluko, to add a bit of flair, which we expect to come in the next week or two.

In the last couple of seasons, the teams we have put out have been too inexperienced and too lightweight...Brown and Knox have rectified this. We won't be pushed around by anybody this season. The team is fit and full of confidence. Can't wait for the season to start.

Think Hibs will do a little better this season, but a lot will rest on how Sproule (has he lost any pace?) and O'Connor perform. If O'Connor can stay away from fights and powder, you've got a great signing on yer hands....and you may sneak into the top 6. Can't see you getting much higher than that I'm afraid.

Always like to see Hibs do well (below us, but above Hearts), so best of luck for the new season.

The optimistic part of me thinks we will scrape into the Top 6 with hopefully 2 good cup runs....the realistic/pessimistic part of me sees another struggle just like last year....unless we pull our finger oot and get some decent signings in before the window shuts!!!!

But regardless of the inability of our board to excite the fans...Come on Hibees!!!:flag:

We finished 10th last year and have been pish-poor for 18 months (apart from one short burst of form where we narrowly beat a few teams who were even pisher than us). We've lost our main goal threat and our most creative midfielder. How anyone thinks we're going to improve on last season, I don't know. Far too much rests on the performance of Stack, O'Connor, O'Hanlon and Sproule - none of whom have been regular contributors to the causes of the various teams they have played for over the past couple of seasons. If they stay fit and find some form, we'll be safe. If not.........

I reckon only Killie will finish below us. They had a decent start to last season then started slumping, and were struggling before the guts of their team was ripped out. I think they'll toil.

Interesting to hear the opinions of fans of other clubs, esp the Aberdeen guy. They have a decent, committed manager who appears to have been backed by his chairman and they seem to have created a bit of interest and positivity amongst their supporters.

Unlike ours.

Oh, and I have renewed my season ticket btw, and can't wait until the big kick-off on Sunday. Just wish I could feel a bit more optimistic.

Impossible to say at this early stage but I'll go for

Who cares
Who cares
them - weakened but they should walk 3rd
Aberdeen - some decent signings
Dundee Utd - will suffer from most of their midfield going
Motherwell - consistent again
St Johnstone - they must score more goals, Sheridan or not
Hibs - and this is optimistic. Depressing.
St Mirren - 2 great signings so should be clear of relegation
Killie - will struggle but should have enough to stay up
Inverness - big transition (so Butcher says!)
Dunfermline - doomed?

No idea how we can get near top 6, the OF will surely be even further ahead than usual. Another bloody awful SPL season

I have to agree with 500 miles with St. Mirren struggling and also with the top four being very close between Rangers and Celtic running away and Hibs and Dundee.Utd very close with each other but far from the old firm. On the other hand I also feel that Killiewill struggle without their main players ...

St Mirren could have Teale and McGowan as wingers with Thompson and Hasselbaink up front which is decent imo. It is just about not conceding a lot.
