You're probably thinking of guy(s) who had Queensway Hotel, beside Dan Stewarts but none of them played for Hibs. Tom H held his board meetings there!

RJ, the only Spanish player that I can ever recall playing for hibs is Paco Luna, during the McLeish era.

I worked there for many years and Pepe Hernanz owned the Queensway hotel Tom Hart did hold board meetings there in the Parador Restaurant. The hotel was sold to an Investment company and demolished. I was not aware that pepe was still with us as would be 80+ by now.Pablo was his Pepe's Ex Partner in the Casa Espaniola on Rose St before the Queensway hotel.......Pepe also bought Tom Harts house in Ravelston!!!

When I wa\s going into Palma Cathedral a few years ago, I was shouted back by one of the attendants. He had spotted my Hibs T Shirt and was asking about how things are. He had worked at the Queensway and was a big Hibby (actually he was quite short, but I digress).

He told me the thing he missed most about Easter Road was a pie and Bovril at half time. The conversation turned to Pepe and he had died quite recently. This was in 2005.

His partner was Pascual, my Dad as it happens. My Dad is fit and healthy, retired and living back in Madrid. Pepe died about 8 or 9 years ago having contracted Hepetitus.

I remember those days fondly when Tom Hart and the other Board members used to come to the hotel for meetings and socialising. At one point the team used to come for pre-match lunch too. The highlight for me was when George Best played for us and he came to the hotel all the time and became quite pally with my Dad. When he was leaving the club he came down to the Hotel one Sunday afternoon to get some photos with us which he then signed. He was a brilliant guy.

The guy you are talking about is Diego. He used to be the head waiter in the Queensway. My Dad (Pascual) still keeps in touch with him on the phone on a regular basis.

Just a point. The original owner of the Queensway was Edinburgh businessman John Finlayson who employed Pepe as his chef

He was a great guy to talk to, he told me his sons have bars in Magaluf.

It's nice to read a thread like this recalling so many diverse folks great affection for our club. It's a pleasant change from much of the doom & gloom. It's good to know some of the guys from Rose St & Queensway are still going strong. My dad was a great friend of Tom Hart & at 92 years young is still in hope of us achieving the holy grail!!

My brother is a top chef in Madrid and he mentioned tonight that he is in touch with another Spanish player who played at Raith Rovers but also said he played for us - Jorge Zoco. I can't place then name but the lad apparently still talks about Hibs with great affection.

Anyone remember him?

Knowing nothing of the subject, this is a very refreshing read compared to some of the stuff on the board these days.

pepe had a lot of contacts at Hibs...Dougie Crombe etused to eat there every Saturday night....also Players that were on Trial or just signed used to stay there (Mark Caughey ) and more. Many a good night and used to have the hotel Xmas party in the 50 Club. I believe that he had a major fall out with Pascqual aqnd never really spoke about it. He was with Trisha for years and had a son called Paul.

I worked there for many years and still remember my time there with fondness

Tom Farmer was also a Regular in the Restaurant

Exactly what I was just thinking brog. Great stuff.
