Woke up in the middle of the night with a real 'burning bush' moment
No - not a dose of the whatsit but a vision of how shrewd the 'Tache' was being at the moment
At the end of the season the board sat down and reviewed CC's performance. 7 wins out of 32. Pitiful end of reign mapped to equally bad start. Poor public persona. What were their choices?
Sack him - and face the charge that they are the most trigger happy board in the SPL? Not so easy to recruit a replacement with that track record. And Rod paying compensation? No way
Expect him to resign. And waive compensation? Nope!
Hope that another club will snap him up as a manager. With that track record. Didn't look likely
That only left making his position untenable. Not giving him his own assistant - tick in the box. Picking our own rather than his transfer targets - Yup. Tick in the box. Making it clear they wouldn't support many more signings until performances improved? Tick in the box
In this dream it seemed the board wanted CC to go. CC wanted to go. Mo'N had already been approached that's why he had knocked back a new contract. Rod knew that a new manager close season appoinment would shift more Season Tickets than any player
RP was as always playing hardball with contracts. Once the deal had been done Hibs would move quickly and not bother with a recruitment process.
Anyway it was only a dream that I woke up from last night - surely Rod couldn't have engineered all of this - could he?
