Can anyone remember when all the changes to Easter Road happened?

When was the 'Cow-shed' erected?
When was the top of the old main terracing removed?
When was the main terracing covered?
When were the old branch seating installed?
When was the new 'behind the goals' stands built.
When was the main stand built?

As for the new East stand, I can remember that one, it was 2010 (I think).

Was there any other 'developments' I have missed?

The cow shed was shut early in season 72/3 & opened for European games, the seating came soon afterwards & made ER seem like a ghost stadium.

Pitch leveled at same time as West Stand built

Sorry, Typo should have been bench seating. I know there was benches in the cow-shed but were they installed in the same year that the roof was put on?
Also same question re-seating on the main terracing?

Was there any benches in the away end when it was still uncovered?

I may be wrong but did we not have those bucket seats in the old Dunbar End for a few years back in the early nineties?

I would have guessed a bit earlier was it not in place for our record crowd against jambos.

No, I remember standing there (which we always called the Cave) and it was the dodgiest part of the gtound because most of the trouble started there - nothing to do with me, I was too wee, but I remember keeping one eye on the crowd and one on the pitch...

Great memories actually...

No the bench seating were put in place after they closed the cow shed for all but Euro matches during season 72/3. They shut the "Cave" because of trouble in that part of the ground, every time we played Rantic & hearts. An early season fixture against the jambo's sealed the fate of the cow shed, as with the rantic, hearts fans would gather next to Hibs & trouble would be always follow.

The bench seats were in place the following season & the atmosphere in ER ended there and then right up until the east was covered. Why they never just made the cow shed a home area, I just don't know, segregation wasn't something they considered in those's days.

" Cow Shed " was at Tynecastle )
being fenced off and left empty for early Derby in 72-73 . Bench seats were put in soon after ( I remember half the " Cave " being opened and seated at FC Besa game ) . On wet days , they`d open gates to let folk in - not always a popular decision with fans that had paid more for their seat and roof . Was often really quiet - I used to like it when tired after a late night and I fancied a snooze between goals .

Aye. The away fans were given yellow cagoules when it rained.

T'was always the Cow Shed to me. Used to love it to be honest. Not just rantic and hertz causing trouble. Seem to remember a particularly interesting game against the arabs. Not sure why that one sticks in my mind.

IIRC the first game under the covered terracing was Hibs v Rangers in the first leg of the semi final of the Skol (League) Cup v Rangers in September 1985. That was the round after Pearce O'Leary's infamous penalty miss in the shootout at the Cowshed end.

I seem to remember that Hibs won 2-0 (Durie & Chisholm (on his debut?)). Rangers won the return leg at Ibrox with a Davie Cooper free kick.

Yup - Rangers scored very early on - before the majority of Hibs fans turned up because of a crash on the M8 and it was backs to the wall stuff. Got gubbed in the final by Fergie's Dons IIRC.

No, greenginger's correct, the high terracing wasn't there in 1950 when ER housed it's record attendance. I wouldn't have fancied being there to be honest (quite apart from the result), the crush must have been horrendous. Many fans who gained admission, couldn't see anything, gave up and went home.
Even the Barcelona game in '61 with 50,00 present (I was a regular on the high terracing in those days, and was up there that historic night), the ground seemed packed.
In those days 40,000 was, IMHO, the ideal crowd for ER. There were no spaces on the terracing but the passageways were clear.
Those were the days!:aok:
