Just had a look at the training videos and pictures and noticed that a fair few players have new squad numbers. Here's what I could see:

Booth - 3
Hanlon - 4
O'Hanlon - 5
O'Connor - 9
Galbraith - 11
Thornhill - 15
Sproule - 17
Welsh - 28

That was all I could see but there'll be a lot more.

Smith is 34 I'm pretty sure. I expect Wotherspoon has 7 in any case.

Interesting that Galbraith has been given number 11, Maybe Calderwood see's him as the answer to our left midfield problem this season? :dunno:

Can players not pick up any number in training? Or was that the number on their actual kit?

Anyway, hope that is the numbers for next season, weve not had a proper starting XI in ages, been really obscure numbers. Good to see the likes of Booth and Galbraith getting 3 and 11, hopefully means CC really is going to put the emphasis on youth!

Murray, de Graff etc have their usual numbers so I'd assume not.

Quite common for some players to train with different numbers at the start of the season to the ones they end up with come the SPL kick off.

Last season for example, David Stephens trained with the no 5 but didn't get no 5come the start of the season.

Going further back, Boozy trained with no 8 in pre-season but kept his no 14 when the season started.

Theres probably other examples of this.

One of the reasons is if a new signing is made and is quite a senior player he may request a certain number. Sounds daft but remember Bergkamp signing for Arsenal and insisting and wanting no 8 or no 10 meaning Merson had to give up no 10 and take no 9 coz Ian Wright insisted on no 8 and would not wear 9.
