Please god no!!!!

I would want that horrid, violent bawsack nowhere near Arsenal.

If Wenger is looking to bring experience and stability to the centre of midfield, he could do far worse than to bring Viera back for a season or 2, with a view to transitioning to the coaching side.

But Barton - I seriously hope not.

Would be a good signing for Arsenal IMHO.

They need to man up this season, and Barton (though a thug) would be well up for the battle.

About time Arsenal signed a hardman.

Barton is a horrible person, an absolute thug.

But he has something few, if any Arsenal player has, and thats real fight and the ability not to go hiding when the going gets tough. Hes not a player you particularly want coming to your club but once hes there hes going to do a job. Even if hes back up to Song, coming off the bench, he would play a huge part as throwing away leads has become a speciality of Arsenals, he would add some steel to help them see out games.

I really like "The Arse" and this would be perfect for them..

Need to man up big time and Barton would set the rest of tem up so they take no prisoners..

Perhaps he'd make a prisoner of them though :hmmm:

Not really sure what Wenger would hope to get from signing Barton. I would have said that a decent keeper and a EPL quality version of Sean O'Hanlon would have been his first two buys.

Im with you on this, never done much wrong on the pitch and the very guy you would want on your team in a scrap with the bonus of undoubted ability.

He could end his career at Hibs ,as we love those with chequered off pitch careers, maybe a few throwing stones in glasshouses :devil:

He is exactly the player Arsenal need in their midfield, haven't had a commanding central mid since Viera, thought they might've went for Scott Parker but his age is against him.

To many pussies at The Emirates ,
Bartons exactly what Arsenal need cant stand the little cherub but he will IMO be a huge success for them barring jail time and injuries .

Arsenal need a world class striker and to sort out their defence.

Barton is a very good player but if he went to Arsenal and flopped or if they continue to win nothing (7 years next season), Wenger would look particularly bad.

Can't see it happening myself.

True.

But Arsenal tented to win things in these days too.

IMHO its time they had a real nasty ******* in the middle of the pitch.

Barton certainly fits the bill.

Spurs should get him to replace Modric. He could also act as 'Arry's "minder" off the field.

Some of the purists going "AAAAAGGGHHHH, NAW!" here might care to cast their minds back to the 1970's and one Peter Storey who played 391 games for the club, being a member of the double-winning team (at a time when winning the double really meant something), scoring only 9 goals in his career but crippling at least 4 times that number of opponents?

I remember him as quite simply one of the dirtiest players I have ever seen - and he played in the same era as Norman Hunter, Ron Harris, Tommy Smith, and a whole lot more.

Barton's a pussy in comparison.

Van Persie?

Viera was indeed a cultured player but I tell you what he had some real dig and could put his foot in when it counted. Roy Keane for all his bravado never really went toe to toe with him if you look back at their encounters together. There was a mutual (grudging) respect that both were hard players. Flamini was no angel either, so to be honest, Barton would be a good addition, especially in tough, need to win games against the likes of Bolton, Wolves and WBA which Arsenal toiled against last season.

If AW were to also get the likes of Gary Cahill and Roger Johnson then they would have some real steel to go with the flair up top. Adding Benzema or similar is needed too.........a real lack of striking fire power at Arsenal IMHO which needs addressed as much as at the back.

Barton is a very good footballer. Tons of ability.

Suspect temprement on and off the field has held him back.

Van Persie hasnt had a full season since joining Arsenal, hes always picking up daft injuries. Whilst defensive and goalkeeping errors have been their main problem this year, RVP being injured has been a huge loss. Someone who could challenge him as well as covering when injured is what Arsenal need, as the current back up really dont do it.

If Fabregas goes as well, RVP could easily play in that advanced midfield role behind a quality striker.

Picked up a few of those injuries playing for Holland agaainst AW's wishes.

RVP is class. Undeniable.

Barton would be an odd but very interesting signing and could be the **** that Arsenal need!
