we dont have 2 home games back to back until november but plenty 2 away games back to back

still - lets do this!

I would say both Edinburgh sides have been given a tough run of opening fixtures to be honest.

Saying that, I would far rather face Celtic on opening day of the season at ER than face a Celtic 1) away or 2) a Celtic who have had a wee chance to get a run of wins/games under their belt. New signings will all be wanting to make an immediate impact and for me there is no better fixture to do so.

I quite fancy us against Celtic. Bring it on :agree:

More than likely - either 12.30 on the Saturday or at some point on Sunday.

New yar Derby back to the 2nd but with a 7:45 KO, looking forward to this.

That's more than likely unfortunately.

Cracking first fixture though, I would much rather start with a tough one at ER.

Which of the games are getting changed due to this joke(r) rule about pre-season friendlies?

edit: looks like they haven't been rescheduled yet. eg there are only four games on the weekend of 6/7 August, when Hibs are playing Sunderland and the Huns are also playing an English team. I think Hibs would have been due to play St. Johnstone judging by the teams that aren't scheduled (Huns - doubt even the SPL would give the OF for your first two home games, Killie - who Hibs play the following week, Hibs and St. Johnstone).

SJ fan looking up his website has us down to play them at ER on 6th August, but postponed, due to us playing Sunderland. Would imagin theis would be the midweek after?

It's a shame the New Year derby is at 7:45pm on a Monday night as a lot of people will have to go back to work the next day. Presumably that's a police decision as the Yams don't know how to behave themselves.

The 2nd and 3rd are the public holidays. I would have thought an evening ko would likely to see more people turning up pissed as they will be drinking all day.

Is that definite. What a stupid time that is. IMO more likely to be more trouble as folk will have more time to get gassed up. Also getting home from the game for fans out of town will be a nightmare I would have though as public transport will be very poor.

Couldn't agree more - we have Celtc at home then no home fixture for a month, as it stands, because of our glamour friendly against Sunderland!! We'll be lucky to pull in 7 to 8,000 for that game & I have no idea why we're doing it.

Does anyone know why sheep at home is on Sunday 11th September instead of the saturday? As far as I'm aware neither us or them are in the Europa League.

From SPL website

Why have some games been moved to Sundays?

That is to accommodate clubs playing Europa League qualifiers on Thursdays. More games will require to be moved depending on the progress of our clubs in Europe. The Hibernian v Aberdeen fixture has been put back 24 hours to Sunday September 11 at the request of the police.

Im going to be in Amsterdam for the first game :greengrin Gutted I cant be there in person but with the game 90% sure it will be on the telly i think a few j's and beers in the dam will help cure the pain of not being there

Looks like Sky have two games for the opening weekend according to their Live on sky page on their website :

Sat 23 SPL Match TBA 12.00pm SPL
Sun 24 SPL Match TBA 12.00pm SPL

Both 12:00 kick offs - marvellous !!

You would assume its us/celtc and yams/Huns on the sat or the Sun - unless EPSN are in the mix ??

Why do Sky need the games to kick off at noon when there isn't any English football for nearly another month?

Der Hun will unvail the flag on the Saturday to kick off the season, and we'll be the Sunday match.

My fantasy is that the home fixture versus Motherwell on the 7th April has soome kind of meaning (other than a relegation struggle).

For the last few seasons the first game has always been the OF loser kicking off away.

I emailed Hibs today about this. According to the reply I got, Hibs are not entirely sure of the reason but did say that it was not flagged as "high risk" from a security perspective. They were going to contact L&B to find out more information. Had a look and I can't see anything else on in Edinburgh that Saturday.

Strange one. If the police start treating Aberdeen games like Hearts/Rangers/Celtic and move them to early kick-offs/Sunday's etc, then nearly 50% of our games will not be on a Saturday at 3pm.
