Interesting. I believe North American sports fans have a history of rioting, too!

I find the habit of rioting in your own city to be confusing to say the least...

My parents live in Vancouver and they were told that even if the Canucks had won the cup, those scenes would've happened. It's a shame because a lot of the people just went to cheer on the team. My dad and brother watched game 6 from the street that was trashed and said how fantastic the atmosphere was. That's ruined now.

I have family in Vancouver and the Stanley Cup to them is like the Scottish Cup to us. They are a hockkey mad city (like the rest of Canada) but have never won it. When they went 2-0 up in the 7 game final they started to believe (that was actually the club's slogan, sounds familiar lol) and when they lost heavily at Boston and it looked like they might not win the thing, the riots were widely predicted. It happened the last time they lost the final series (1994 I think).

Shocking scenes. What struck me was that most of the rioters looked like normal folk, not your **** bag or anti-establishment types that hyjack these events in the UK like the student protests.

Beer. Turning ordinary folk into hooligans since 1866.

Was there for a few games of the Stanley cup final...Brilliant atmosphere in the City when they are winning not so great when they are losing!! Just pretty passionate I suppose...It's no excuse, but it is a minority of fans doing the rioting as always...

I love this video...just shows you how much the city cares about the Canucks
