check out this penalty shoot-out from an Italian League game. The penalty taker had hit the bar with his kick and the GK started to celebrate thinking his team had won the game, however, the ball bounced back down and somehow managed to curl back in over the line..... GOAL!

Top stuff.....

The same thing happened to me when playing at youth level but the referee never allowed it, something to do with once the ball goes forward again that was that. Don't know the real rule, but we won

You're right. This goal shouldn't have stood.

In a penalty shoot out if the ball stops moving forward then the penalty is finished. For instance, if the ball came off the post and hit the keeper and went in, that would not be a goal also.

It doesn't apply to penalties in normal play obviously.

:agree: Brazil v France, Mexico 86. IIRC, the ref blundered in that game.
