I'd take him. Decent pedigree, plenty of games played and if guys like Jones and Duberry were at a much lower level than that upon entering the SPL...

MK Dons reject will dismay some obviously, but it'a not a great problem if one centre half isn't the most gifted footballer in the world. As long as he can defend. Obviously.

Sounds a good decent centre half...............Here's hoping he likes us:aok:

There's talk on the Sheffield Wednesday forums of us sniffing about mark reynolds (former Motherwell ch). He only signed in January though so a fee would be needed!

From what I'm reading there some want him out as he's been hopeless, others saying he has played left back and has been in a dire team

I remember the Huns sniffing about him a year or so back, Motherwell knocked back a 6 six figure some aswell i think. Very decent addition that would be welcomed by most supporters.

Would he be our only signing this summer apart from Sproule?

Given the number of soft goals our defence leaked last season, the signing of an experienced, 'no nonsense' CB would seem like a sensible part of the immediate plan for squad development.

from the MK Dons website

A lynchpin in the Dons defence ever since his arrival in the summer of 2006, Sean was sorely missed by the Dons during the 2009/10 season as he recovered from knee surgery the previous summer. Expected to return to full fitness for the 2010/11 season, his comeback will be like a new signing for Dons supporters.

A former England Under-20 international, Sean began his career with Everton before joining Swindon in March 2004. After two excellent seasons with the Robins, where he was made club captain, Martin Allen made the powerful defender a priority signing at the heart of his Dons defence.

Sean made 138 appearances in his first three years in MK, weighing in with a respectable 13 goals, including the second in the 2008 Johnstone's Paint Trophy win at Wembley. Sean has also captained the side on a number of occasions.

Following his recent injury, Sean returned to competitive action in February and made six promising appearances towards the end of the season before the decision was taken to start his pre-season preparations early for the forthcoming campaign.

His positional awareness, aerial dominance and downright bravery make him a horrible opponent for opposition strikers to come up against.

liking the sound of the last bit as thats exactly what we need.

From an MK Dons regular who is a mate of mine

"MK Dons released Sean O'Hanlon a the end of this season. Just releasing him can't be a good sign, but the Dons are not in a great financial state. They released 4 players from a fairly thin squad. Sean has been there for about 4 seasons. He is a whole-hearted performer, and a good servant for the club, captaining it on occasion. He can make mistakes leading to crucial goals and probably has not had his best season. We shall still miss him."

Seven Dons players were out of contract in June, with Jude Stirling, Stuart Searle, Sean O’Hanlon and Danny Woodards let go. A source close to Woodards has claimed the defender turned down a two-year deal with a 15 per cent pay cut in the hope of signing for a Championship club, while O’Hanlon is thought to be in talks with Scottish Premier League side Hibernian. Meanwhile former Hibernian and current Inverness Caledonian Thistle defender Chris Hogg is being linked with a move south to Milton Keynes

I know he's had his injury problems, but I wouldn't swap a fit Sean O'Hanlon for any other centre half in league 1. I can't understand the mentality of some Dons fans, they write a player off just because he has had a few injuries and is over 28 years old! "

Reading the MK Dons site it seems they are going to miss him although he's a touch injury prone.

"Welcome back LD hope the holiday went well. I'm not too sure we'll be able to replace O'Hanlon very easily. I know he's had his injury problems, but I wouldn't swap a fit Sean O'Hanlon for any other centre half in league 1. I can't understand the mentality of some Dons fans, they write a player off just because he has had a few injuries and is over 28 years old! "
According to the ****bos in the Hootsman MKD fans are glad to see the back of him ?

Read that which is what made me have a look, certainly doesn't seem to be the case. Few saying he's looked like he's lost a bit of pace since his injury problems but putting it down to that.

Strengthens the team if true.

Strong, experienced centre half to toughen up and organise our 'spine' and help bring the younger players along.

Just need to keep him fit.

Looks a promising signing on the face of it.

The right age for a centre half with plenty of experience.

Big rugged guys from the lower English leagues are exactly the sort we should be looking at for our centre halfs.

I'd prefer another one too but with Hanlon probably being a first pick there I'd expect the next one, if we get another, to be a bit of a work in progress or a young guy.

Hanlon, O'Hanlon, Stephens and another wouldn't be too bad.

Welcome to the Hibees Sean. Sounds a solid, consistent, seasoned performer who should bring along the young defenders nicely. Hanlon should benefit the most and should blossom playing beside him with a bit of luck.

Another 3 or 4 (a couple being strikers) to add to Sproule and O'Hanlon and my enthusiasm will be rekindled in time for next season.

Never disliked a player as much as him in years..... John McDonald of the huns was the last one i hated so much.

Kyle really is deluded. Thinks he is the real deal and talks himself up all the time. remember seeing him at Tynie for his first cap against New Zealand and my 5 year old laddie asking why does the ball keep bouncing off that big guy? Is he not meant to trap the ball ?

He moans about others complaining about rough treatment but toys were out the pram when Ian Murray took Ian Black out. Absolute REMOVED of a man.

Its weird, nothing on the news section but there's an interview with him in the premium content section. In a hibs strip, O'Hanlon: Why I signed. Don't know why there's nothing in the news bit yet. Maybe a mistake by the website, shouldn't have put the interview up before it's announced?!?!

Obviously I'm a little slow this morning. Where is the Premium Content? You mean logging into Hibernian TV? I did that and still can't see anything. LOL.

EDIT : Got it (under Interviews). :D

It came up on the front page of my official iPhone app about ten minutes ago mate. About half way down the homepage.

New captain ?

Seems like a decent player with good leadership qualities - having been captain at other clubs :agree:

I agree, sounds like a leader and personally hope he is given the armband. A good age and sounds like CC has had his eye on him for a while.

Looks the business.

Bald headed guys for some reason always look that bit tougher. Maybe the whole squad can get baldies. Scare the hell out of the opposition.

Welcome aboard Sean.

I might have to replace my Droid with the next iPhone. I had the original but I was tied to AT&T and I hate them so I switched to Verizon which has better coverage for me. But now I can get an iPhone on Verizon. :)

I refuse to believe he is anything other than a panic signing and at least fifth choice!

I've no idea. Be interesting to know what effect it had on our results if it did happen before. Percentage of wins when bald and percentage of wins when no bald.

It could be the way forward.

It says on the official site that CC has been chasing Big Seanie Boy for a few years. So not only does he look like a big bruiser who won't take prisoners but also doesn't lack pace.

O'Hanlon sounds exactly the type of signing we require and wish him all the best. Two more signings of this ilk please Mr Calderwood and you will get more than a few more ST holders back!

Good stuff. The big, ****-off centre half some have been asking for for a while.

Make him club captain too to let Hanlon concentrate on developing his game and Murray concentrate on actually playing.

Like the fact that he is described as a leader and "organizer". Having someone prepared to be vocal on the pitch and direct other players at set pieces, etc has been something that we have sorely lacked for quite some time.

EXACTLY the sort of player we were looking for imo. Our defending from set pieces/2nd ball was woeful last year, sounds like he's an organiser as well as dominant.

CC obviously looking for leaders in the dressing room as well (GOC, Stack, O'Hanlon), good stuff, just need to add some guile as well.

Ian's been a good servant, but IMO time for him to concentrate on being a bench player and developing his coaching career.

Yep sounds like the manager wants a few louder voices and leaders on and off the pitch. Good to see IMO.

East Mains definitely paying some dividends when it comes to attracting players.
