'a better training facility than what Everton had when I was there'
East Mains definitely paying some dividends when it comes to attracting players.
I don't really believe that. I'm sure it's a great environment to train and whatnot but the only way it might make the slightest bit of difference to attracting a player would be if Hibs and another local club offered pretty much the same terms and it was down to stuff like training facilities, stadium etc etc. Otherwise, it's down to contracts and location all the time.
It's pretty much the default marketing position for a new Hibs signing to mention how fantastic East Mains is.

If I was starting at a new work place with much better facilities than I was used to then I am pretty sure I would mention it as well. Players at the likes of Aberdeen must surely look at what we have at Hibs and wish they had something similar in place. Why shouldn't we blow our own trumpet?

I agree with that. It's doubtful that he signed on the dotted line for that reason BUT it is nice to hear a new signing talk about it. Doesn't really mean one thing or another but it's still nice to hear.

Ian's been a good servant, but IMO time for him to concentrate on being a bench player and developing his coaching career.
I have always felt he was a better centre half than left back or midfielder.

EXACTLY the sort of player we were looking for imo. Our defending from set pieces/2nd ball was woeful last year, sounds like he's an organiser as well as dominant.
CC obviously looking for leaders in the dressing room as well (GOC, Stack, O'Hanlon), good stuff, just need to add some guile as well.
We need characters who know their way to the bar in George Street. Let's hope Sean fits the bill.

Its table service in the best George St establishments these days Bob. Going to the bar is soooo Brian Kerr.

I did too, many moons ago.
Cracking, got a really good feeling about this signing
If we have young guys like Towell, Hanlon, Stephens and Booth playing in defence it'll be good to have guys like Stack and O'Hanlon alongside them communicating to them during the games and keeping them organised.

Pleased with this signing. Not too familiar with him but he seems to have a good background, is experienced and has previously been a captain, something we lack a bit in the club. Hopefully he is someone who will take charge of things, will give players a bollocking if they arent pulling their weight. Glad he is saying that keeping clean sheets is a key aim as thats been a real problem for us recently!

Yes, because you'd expect him to say he hopes we concede plenty of goals!

surely not, obviously he hadn't checked with Kickback before the interview? They allege it's a just a barn on the English border!

Although BK's trips to the bar were always unseen anyway.
Welcome to the club, Sean O'Hanlon. :flag:

It is always a good sign when they dont want them to go. "I will be seriously surprised if we can bring-in a better defender than O'Hanlon", so why the hell did we let him go.

I agree, but I fear he's reached that stage in his career where other options are better options. Don't know if it is his arthritis, but to my mind he's just not first pick material anymore.

Didn't they all do that before once?
Dont think they went bald, however during the Sauzee years they all dyed their hair blonde.

i would imagine most are here for the money first and foremost,
the training ground is an advantage for the guys that train, simple, hopefully make them better players and encourage youngsters to sign....
not for attracting the majority of players..

Having been to Evertons training ground / Academy last summer - although East Mains is good - Evertons is on another level and running costs are much higher.
This must have been a while ago before Finch Farm was built.
The good thing about these signings so far is that O'Hanlon sounds like he will play for the jersey and obviously Ivan and Garry both know what it means to play for the jersey. Really happy with our signings so far

New captain ?
Seems like a decent player with good leadership qualities - having been captain at other clubs :agree:
I would say so.
I'm beginning to feel just a wee bit more optimistic about next season now.... :greengrin
Looks the business.
Bald headed guys for some reason always look that bit tougher. Maybe the whole squad can get baldies. Scare the hell out of the opposition.
Welcome aboard Sean.
Didn't they all do that before once?
yep, during the mcleish era :agree:
Yeah, it was right at the start of season 2000/01. It was Mixu's idea as I recall and most of the team ended up with No.1 haircuts.
We kicked off that season by gubbing the Yams 0-0 on their patch before going on a run of seven straight victories. Agathe was a revelation at that stage.
We could do with resurrecting this idea! :greengrin

Without having seen much of O'Hanlon, I'd rather have Hanlon/O'Hanlon than Thicot/Dickoh.

Saw him play a bit for MK Dons, looked just like what we needed. Could perhaps make the odd faux pas but hopefully not as many as Jones. Reckon he'll pop up with a few goals too.
