Correct - the place would have been in meltdown, and there would have been talk of STs being returned etc.

We had a 6 pager when we thought we were signing Burton O'Brien last year.

Shame to see Frazer leave the club, think it is something of a sideways move when he could have stayed. Think we were only offering a one year deal and St Johnstone were offering two years. Leaves another big hole in Killie squad.

Meant to put this on my last post in other thread but forgot.

RIP Eddie Morrison. Was to young to see you as a player or manager but knew from talking to others you were a true Killie legend. Oh Eddie, Eddie....

How the **** have we 'missed out on him'? Apart from the fact that we need better than Frazer Wright, I'd be astonished if we had tried to sign him.

Folk seem to equate every signing another SPL club makes as one Hibs have been beaten to. Mental.

Kenny Shiels is going to need to bring in quite a few players for us in the summer. With Fright away it means that the only centreback we have is Pascali and there is debate between JJ, Mixu and Kenny as to whether he is a midfielder who can play in defence when needed or the other way round.

So this will be our fate (what if ponderings) until we sign someone.

When we do sign someone it's bound to go nuclear no matter what.

The revolution will not happen overnight unfortunately we kinda need it pretty sharpish...

What's with the clamour to get in signings? In early June? We'll get signings. I wish folk would just chill out a bit. It's making us look desperate in front of the *ahem* neighbours...

Would rather have Rooney but doubt we're getting him either. Got a sneaking he might stay at ICT.

Seriously though would have taken Rooney or Sutton and at least considered Higdon. G O'C being linked but even if we get him not sure what we are getting from him.

Still there are 100s of strikers out there. Lets hope CC has a good one lined up!

GGTTHWhy are we better than that? Going by most of guff what we've signed in the last few seasons what exactly is Hibs class? The panic buying we usually do is usually at the end of the windae, that's why we mostly end up with said Huddies, because there's nowt else left.

we all want the best for the club , and i feel at times us fans panic , this is gonna be a long process with calderwood at the helm , we should be looking to finish in the top 4 most seasons but that hasn't been the case due to various things. half the folk we have signed as late have been bad , there are people saying we have missed out on fraser wright?? im sure it must be a yam at the wind up as fraser wright is exactly what his name sounds like . we should be looking to get players who are of decent quality no ones that other SPL clubs want to put on the scrap heap , some of the names being thrown about are ridiculous , im sure the hibs scouts and staff will have a bunch of players they are intrested in and i hope they get them in .

There is only one player that has so far signed for another SPL club in the last week that I would have taken at ER and that was John Sutton but even then if Rooney is still the striker on the wanted list then I'll be happy to wait for him.

Now that Miller has made his decision to leave then CC has to decide whether he needs to replace like for like. I liked what I saw of Thornhill and thought he was doing well until he got injured, our results and the form of Palsson really dropped without him in the side. I also think that Spoony will turn out to be better in the middle of the pitch than wide.

Pace was the thing that was really missing in the team particularly in the wide areas, if Galbraith has a good pre season and the return of Ivan as well certainly will give us something different going forward.

I think its more people being frustrated that other clubs are getting in their signings early, quite a few have been decent SPL players. Dont think its focusing on any particular signing.

Saying that though, to claim they are huddies and not Hibs class is a bit daft. We finished 10th this season for a reason and imo, a lot of those players would improve upon what we have at the club, even if its just strengthening the squad.

Thought Killie could be eighth or ninth next season but now worrying about relegation. Could be between us and St Midden.

Bell may or may not be away, Hammil to Hearts, Wright to St Johnstone, Sissoko back to parent club, still haven't really replaced Gordon who returned to Chelski (although I like Garry Hay), Bryson probably going to Derby, Eremenko return to parent club, Taouil away, Sammon not really replaced, Agard returned to parent club though could be back.

Amazing. Folk spend all season long slating perfectly decent players who were / are at the club, then come close season the moaning switches to us not signing huddies that go to other clubs. Is this moaning for the sake of it or a desire for us to sign more players worth endlessly whingeing about / booing next season?

The relentless negativity is reaching the point where I'm going to stop bothering coming on here, almost every single damn thread is a moan about the most irrelevant sh***. Honestly, armchair fan sees other SPL club sign a player they've probably never even seen kick a ball and they are on here to rant about it, or to declare that we should be in for them. Guess what, I'm gonna go with whoever CC is in for, he's probably seen them in the flesh.

Isn't CC only here because we missed out on all the other managers who aren't here? :dunno:

Thought Killie could be eighth or ninth next season but now worrying about relegation. Could be between us and St Midden.

Bell may or may not be away, Hammil to Hearts, Wright to St Johnstone, Sissoko back to parent club, still haven't really replaced Gordon who returned to Chelski (although I like Garry Hay), Bryson probably going to Derby, Eremenko return to parent club, Taouil away, Sammon not really replaced, Agard returned to parent club though could be back.

According to the beeb he is going for 350k upfront with 100k based on appearences, surely we could have held off a little then. Wait til nearer the end of the transfer window and see if there was any other interest. Oh well I'm sure the beloved leader MJ knows better

To say players are "not Hibs class" is ridiculous! at the moment we are nothing more than a mediocre team who could have been relegated this season. Fans have to wake up and smell the coffee and stop thinking we can attract all these fancy amazing players! we should be after the likes of Higdon, Hasselbaink, Wright, Sutton, Bryson, etc!! They have proven they are good in the SPL and that is good enought for me plus they are way better than what we have!

Not jumping on the bandwagon of slating Hibs for "missing out" on players but this guy would have been a great signing IMO.

Solid experienced centre half, probably past his peak but would get 2 or 3 years out of him in the SPL. Hopefully CC has someone even better in his sights - can but hope.

I'd be quite disappointed if we signed ANY SPL players.

There's a never ending queue of folk on here who consistently complain the SPL is poor quality, while at the same time a hoard on this board who complain that that we miss out on SPL players when they are available.

I hope Hibs break the incest ridden SPL and get some new genes in the pool.

Why are we better than that? Going by most of guff what we've signed in the last few seasons what exactly is Hibs class? The panic buying we usually do is usually at the end of the windae, that's why we mostly end up with said Huddies, because there's nowt else left.

We have already signed someone. Does the panic buying exclude everyone that we bring in in plenty time for a season starting?

So why build a new stand if it wasn’t to take the club to the next level

We are a shadow of the club we once were, if the last 2 seasons have told us anything it’s this, we are now on par with clubs like ICT, Motherwell, Kilmarnock.

When buying players we seem to wait till the very last minutes before the window closes meaning we are left with player no other teams wants hence the whole we find ourselves in these days.

If the board had the same ambitions as the fans then things would improve.

We have to face up to the fact that we can't attract better players because the majority of Englah clubs can afford to pay more than anyone in the SPL outside the OF and Vlad.

We may, very occasionally, get lucky with a player, but mostly we will sign youngsters or journeymen. e.g. today we're linked with a MK Dons reject.

However, to hope for anything else is unrealistic. Those caling for the board to "invest" are being disingenuous. What they actually want is for someone to give their money away cos no-one comes into Scottish football to get a return on their cash.

Unless it's from the real estate.

As an side, it may be bad now, but imagine the standard of player we would get if the OF left and took all the money with them.

Don't see why we should get twisty-pants over not signing a striker who no longer plays for a relegated club that simply didn't score enough goals to stay up. If he had done, they wouldn't have been. The upside that I see here however, is that I would rate him and Steven Thompson, higher than this Gregory Tade boy that we have been linked with. I am sure that Saints are paying them less that our first-teamers get so by a line of logic, we shouldn't be signing Tade.

Excellent creative midfield signing for them and the Brucey bonus of not getting Diamond it's all looking good for the Jambos.

Stuff the yams. Victor Palsson will go right through Taouil in the first derby and he will be out for another 9 months. :cgwa
:rolleyes:Jeez. Right, let's not sign any players of actual creative football ability, just guys who can "go right through" people like that. Let's just turn into a modern day version of Alex McDonald's Airdrie team. Or indeed most of the Hearts teams of recent memory.

Taouil is a talented footballer who can open up defenses and provide quality supply to the front players. Something we are sadly lacking at the moment. Still, some people would rather we have four Jimmy Scotts.

I mean, if the yams can get fined £100,000 for onfield thuggery, let's show them that we can do better.

By the end of this thread the guy is going to have taken on Messi like ability. How much did the Old Firm offer him? Or the top teams down South? I assume there was loads of interest elsewhere. Hughes got pelters on here for signing players from his former club but when Jefferies does it it's a master stroke. Go figure.

Onfield thuggery? I never said a 2 footed leg-breaking challenge. I was referring to the type of tackle we always moan our players for not doing, a solid ball-winning challenge. And the injury i am referring to is not the cause of a seriously bad challenge, i was merely indicating the fact that Taouil is always injured.

There is a difference between having steel in the midfield which i am on about, and diving in recklessly which is what they have been penalised for.

Hughes was slaughtered on here for turning Hibs into Falkirk. Jefferies has been busy signing players from St. Johnstone, Killie, Motherwell. Where were Killie in the league in the last few years Jefferies was there?

The only proven consistent player they've signed out of that lot is Sutton, who is most likely covering Kyle's ongoing injury problems. The rest are cheap replacements for probable departures, somewhat similar to what Hibs did in 2007, signing a player from Motherwell (Kerr) to replace a sale to the OF (Brown).

JJ will no doubt get the best out of him and in a better side now with more on the ball etc, he could be a really good signing.

Could be interesting to see how this one goes, Mixu got a lot more out of him than JJ ever managed to. Jeffries also saw him more as a wide player who could drift in and it didn't suit him too much, whereas Mixu played him more centrally and got better performances from him.

His lack of crossing ability wasn't shown as much there either!

He'll still destroy us when he plays us though :boo hoo:

Yes but JJ also turned Killie into a Hearts reserve side as well. Fulton, Locke, Quitongo, McSwegan, Wales...must have been others too but the old mind is going.*

Killie struggled in the last few years of JJ reign, but originally he took Kyle who was the main reason (only?) reason we stayed up that year. This year Jamie was a very consistent performer and one of the reasons that Mixu's formation worked so well, Mehdi also had a good season and maybe showed what JJ had seen in him to begin with.

*forgot Magic and Grant Murray (?)

Exactly - it's Sutton for Kyle, Grainger for Wallace, Taouil for Skacel & Hamill for practically anyone in midfield or full back. I saw last week the usual Yam tactic of saying they won't let their players go cheap before anyone has actually expressed an interest in them! If they don't sell they're in ( even more ) serious trouble.
TBH the player I rate most out of the 4 is Grainger, even from his Gretna days but I wouldn't take him over Booth. If we had signed 4 players from teams who finished below us in the league there would be plenty of disbelievers on here.
FWIW I think Taouil has great natural ability but he struggles to see a season out. I'm also told, directly by an agent that Taouil was touted round every English Championship & League 1 sides without any expression of interest.

I must say i find it all hysterical some peoples reaction to hertz signings. They have lost their best ch in bouzid(webster will probably miss half the season through injury) and replaced him with hamill.Paleswaloes(you know who i mean) has gone and been replaced by a journeymen grainger who i havent heard anybody say hibs should have gone after. They have signed sutton as kyle is so injury prone and clum is away and stephen elliot hasnt resigned.they have now signed taoil who no doubt is to replace skacel. So out of the 4 sutton is maybe the only player improving their team and this from a team who won one of their last 12 games incase anybody forgot.
My mates a hertz fan and even he can see beyond the hype around their signings. They at best are the same standard as last season and the squad could be weakened by the sale of kello or wallace.lets wait until we see who hibs sign and where the teams are at say a couple of weeks before the start of the season before we make judgements. To me cc needs the players in by july 9 to give them at least a fortnight with their teammates and if ,as we are led to believe, there will be three signings this week then that will be four players signed(same as hertz) and with i would think 3 more players to come. You would think the season starts on saturday and not 5 weeks away the way some people are panicking.
