I walk into work at the same time as tons of local schoolkids make their way to Primary/Secondary school. I've noticed that 30-40% of them, mostly the older crowd, appear to be walking to school with no schoolbag on??

When I was at High School - and we're not talking Ancient Rome here - you'd have been as well going to school in the scud as you would have been not taking your schoolbag!!! I - and everyone at my school - carried one, what with textbooks, A4 pads, homework etc.

So my query is a) has anyone else noticed this and b) for parents of high school age kids, do they always take a schoolbag to school?

Maybe teaching methods have changed so that there's not so many at-home assignements? Or are a noticeable proportion of high school students just lazy slackers?

I'd expect every school pupil to carry a schoolbag, if only to carry an A4 pad, a couple of pens and a few ounces of cannabis (or whatever the cool kids are into these days!!! :greengrin)

This is exam time so all of 4th/5th and 6th years will be on study leave and only go in for exams where bags aren't needed, also smore schools have lockers now where kids can keep a lot of their books.

As said its exam time so the older ones dont need bags but in the norm I cant get bags big enough for my kids stuff! PE kit and size 9 trainers alone take up a chunk of space then there are folders and huge text books for almost every other subject. Not that they would want one anyway but I couldnt get a packed lunch in their bags if I needed to.

Maybe some of the high schools have lockers?

Had lockers from 1st year at my school, if anything you need it in the lower years as you do more subjects, and as such require more books and folders. Seems to be the wrong way round for me.

Supersition thing but I'd always take my notes in with me prior to the exams.
Never read them but they were there just in case.
Didn't take any for my final exam at uni and everyone did bad in that last exam - applied networks who needs to know the ins and outs of print spooling anyway :) ?
