Both released by Cardiff.

Both would still do a job in the SPL IMO.

Both will be players CC will know about from his time at Nottingham Forest.

Anyone think they could be worth a punt?

Would imagine Burke definitely could but will probably get another decent Championship side. Rae I'm not so sure about anymore but could see at Aberdeen anyway.

There are plenty of good players out of contract this summer, but can we compete with Hearts/Championship?

Rae's got an offer from Aberdeen and Burke's being pursued by Huddersfield.

Think that they are both still decent players but it says more about Cardiff and belt tightening than their ability I think.

Another sad statistic - the ever growing list of former SPL players who failed to cut it in Engurland?

hardly, playing in the top half of the championship regularly isnt really a failure IMO.

The championship is a quality league

Rae played 130 times for 4 years and burke has played 102 times in 2 years.

wouldnt surprise me if they get more offers from down south.

Nope, they did fine, especially Burke. Lots of good players will be out of work this summer in England-its the economic realities hitting home.

As someone already said Rae is away to the sheep and as for Burke, he wasn't released he rejected their final offer which makes me think he thinks he can get more elsewhere which aint going to be at ER.

Why would Hibs sign both Chris Burke and Ivan Sproule?

We need players in lots of different positions never mind two right wingers.

What about McArthy, Sammon, Fletcher and Adams?

I remember we used to slate our keepers every time Adams scored a freekick against us but now he is scoring freely against the top keepers in the Premiership(or was at least!)

Rae to the Dons.

Hibs have no chance with Burke - price range plus will get better offers.

Gav Rae is maybe getting a little old now, however, a very good player, can think of a lot worse than signing a player like that for a season.

Chris Burke is never going to come to Hibs, he will have the chance of getting plenty more money down there for decent championship teams. He seems to have done well for them since he signed, and they are consistantly in the play offs, would not be suprised if he went somewhere like Birmingham or Blackpool - one of the teams just coming down the way.

Probably more to do with Cardiff (again) not making it into EPL. Downward spiral for them methinks.

Absolutely correct, Burke is listed on Sky Sports News along with Jay Bothroyd saying they both refused the offers made by Cardiff for them to stay.

Burke will move to another big Championship club, a newly promoted team or lower Prem team team along with Bothroyd.

Yep. Sproule is adaptable as well....he can play in the sun.

Although he played for Rangers, Burke is Celtic mad, wouldnt be surprised to see him go there.

Both decent players, but I think Rae is the only realistic one. TBH, I'd rather be hearing about CBs and CFs that were on the verge of signing at the moment.
