Don't want to get my head bitten off here by sceptical P+B Hibbys, but.......
Heard from a very good source who works at the training ground (same person who heard about Calderwood's appointment before the press) that Calderwood agreed to leave Hibs this morning. Will be leaving in the next few days to make way for....... Gordon Strachan.
I know, i know, I'm just as sceptical, but I thought I'd put it out there in case anyone else has heard similar rumours.

To say the least I'm sceptical.
A couple of years ago this board was full of denounciations of Strachan duetot the utter pash he spouted about us at Celtic.
Now though, perhaps the scars have healed.
I don't hink many are ove joyed with Calderwood and if he did choose to leave, then the obvious question about his replacement is up for debate.
Its been proved to be a hit or a miss thing with any new manager.
Strachan I guess would be no worse than anyone else who likely may be available..I think we are only an attrctive option to (a) first timers or (b) someone nobody else wants..such have our stocks plumetted.
I think we're in a situation at the moment that where we are willing to give anyone a go..in the hope of beter times.
I'd take him.

PLEASE Lord lt be true, would make me very happy indeed a manager with passion a coach with plenty of footballing contacts,he's the man who let us have Wotherspoon for tuppence, was a great deal at the time?
If it's true I'll RENEW my Season Ticket RIGHT now!

I'm not knocking H1875 but what is this based on? We're constantly told that CC was useless elsewhere then what was Strachan? He was successful at Celtic when Mowbray was an abject failure. Although Mowbray has lifted Boro when Strachan was an unmitigated disaster.
Football eh?

So you think it would make good sense to sack Calderwood (pay up his three year contract) and appoint Strachan? If we could even afford Strachan's wages what is this based on? His record at Celtic who had 10 times more money than anybody else or Southampton, who spent their way out of business? He got Coventry relegated for the first time in thirty odd years and may have got Middlesborough relegated to league one the way he was going.
Strachan needs money and lots of it. Even then..................
Good job the OP is nonsense otherwise the lunatics really have taken over the asylum.

its gordons destiny, he will also win us the scottish cup and go down in the history books.
i have foreseen it thus it must be true.
no point in debating it to be honest...
move along, nothing to see here...

Strachan uses to be slaughtered for his cantankerous interviews whilst at Celtic so some folk will have heart attacks if he does that as Hibs manager.
I don't believe it btw.

I very much doubt it will happen. However, even if we got Alex Ferguson we'd still be looking at bottom six next season as our squad is so, so poor.
The only way we are going to make a marked improvement is with investment in players which is very unlikely under our current board. Not a pop at the board, just a statement of fact.

Thats fair enough but where is this "investment" coming from?

Unreal isn't it. Unfortunately in this viral age all it takes is for someone to make something up and post it on facebook or the like and it spreads like wildfire and eventually becomes "FACT".
I sincerely hope Colin never reads anything that gets posted on this site - know for a fact that though that it is monitored by the club.
How the hell would you feel if it was your job getting discussed?

Well, nowhere from what I can see. And that's where I'm coming from. Our board has kept us on a very even keel but that won't win us any cups in the near future. We either take some gambles financially or we stay stuck in the rut we're in. Our youth team aren't going to get us out of it, that's for sure.

We're already in debt by over £4m (half our income) and this season wont have helped. Thats the thing about gambles in that most of the time you lose.

Gordon was in Edinburgh for his fathers funeral.
I very much doubt he will be joining Hibs any time soon.

Absolutely, you've only got to look across Edinburgh to see that. But our current team is poor and that is the bottom line. No manager in this land could take it above 4th place at best.

You telling me he could do better than calderwood with resources we have i don't think so i'd rather we did'nt do another managerial merry go round again thanks :no way:
Wee Gordie is well known as a Hibby so one day he'll fulfil his Hibs dream. I don't think it will be soon though.

Strachan himself has admitted he doesn't really follow hibs and that he really only supported them as a kid so imo to say he is a hibby is far from truth he has a soft spot for us is better way to put it

It's not monitored in any sinister way. There are board members who do read the forums with interest. They'd be daft not to. It's a rich source of the fans feelings and a gold mine of ideas.

I saw him interviewed when manager of either Southampton or Coventry, i'm not sure which. The interviewer asked him what he'd do if he lost his job.
His answer was to get a season ticket for easter road and watch the Hibs.
Maybe it was one of his stupid answers, i dont know?

Hopefuly a load of absolute mince. The little ginger whinger is more likely to keep me away from the game. I hope to help Calderwood is given some time to do what he needs to do. Still laughing at the irony of some posters saying that times are hard yet His should spend big. Times are hard there too.

I remember an interview a couple of years back in one of the papers where strachan said he supported us but couldn't tell you who played for us doesn't strike me as a supporter tbh as i said before a soft spot maybe

Not true.
CC also on holiday just now.
Anyone who thinks that this board will want to lose their fourth manager in 3 and a half years is absolutely off their rocker. We've turned over 100 players in the last five or 6 seasons and it's got us the square root of duck all as well as constantly losing us money in paying off manager and player contracts
If there's one thing we have learned over recent years is we must give a manager at least 2 years to build success
It's the constant change and transition that's doing the damage - not any one particular manager

There certainly was and there's no reason to think differently of the guy just because he's been out of the limelight. He's an embarrassment and totally unlikeable in my book.
