It appears from memory to be the normal for one club to have a decent season while the other has a poor season.

When was the last time both clubs had a decent season in the SPL?

I couldn't be bothered checking as I know that FalkirkHibee has all the stats to hand and therefore save me valuable time. :greengrin

Under Mowbray, and when Vlad took over Hearts....... surely there was 2 seasons at least, where both were doing well enough.......

:agree: Aye, was going to moot 2005/6 although we petered out at the tail end. But it has always tended to be one doing well and the other not so. The best illustration of that being in the late 70s/early 80s when they were perennial relegatees and we went down once; I think there was 3 seasons in succession that there were no league derbies.

Four, as they spent two consecutive seasons in the 1st the last time they were down.

In 1st Division:

77-78: Hearts
78-79: -
79-80: Hearts
80-81: Hibs
81-82: Hearts
82-83: Hearts.

But they are too big to get relgated, those stats must be wrong:confused:

2005-06 must have been the last time. That was the year Hearts split the Old Firm and we finished a creditable 4th.

We were ahead of Rangers for long periods of that season but we had falter near the end of the season and in the end we only finished 2 points ahead of Aberdeen in 6th place.

Since then;

06-07

Hearts-4th
Hibs-6th

07-08

Hibs-6th
Hearts-8th

08-09

Hearts-3rd
Hibs-6th

09-10

Hibs-4th
Hearts-6th

10-11

Hearts-3rd
Hibs-10th

What have you been doing FH. You've had 4 hours already. Hope you're at least up to the 1940's.

I know a man who does

2005/6 was a watershed season for Hibs in retrospect, with the sale of Garry O'Connor being the pivotal moment. I really feared you had a chance until that early spring period.
