Compact but nevertheless representing a Herculean achievement, the course provides obstacles, trials and contours to test the strength of the highest level players, and with its interweaving holes is not a course that easily forgives an accidental hooking. The more latent golf heroes can enjoy sharpening their senses on the steep drops and abandoned quarries that make up many of the obstacles, as well as the view of Edinburgh Castle and the Forth estuary that unfurls beyond the course like a victory pennant.
Groupon holders will enjoy a round of golf, with the final tee off approximately four hours before sundown. There’s time to spare for an included lunch of soup and two filled rolls, setting up a hungry stomach for a valiant round, or just for gently walking off between holes.
