Mate of mine is a big County fan, after he got back from today's game apparently the chat was that McGovern, Barrowman and Gardyne are on their way to us.

Can vaguely recollect hearing good things about Gardyne, but what are the other 2 like?
What positions do they play?

Don't know what they are like but they were part of a team that finished 8th in Division 1.

I'm not suggesting for a minute there are not bargains to be had in the lower leagues, but all 3 might be stretching it.

Yep. Not sure if we should be signing 1/3 (if you include Scott) of the Ross County team. Aye, they done well last season to get to the SC Final, but just missed out on relegation to Div 2 this season.

McGovern is their first choice keeper, the other two are strikers apparently.

Barrowman failed big time at Inverness and McGovern failed to make an appearance at United did he not? Gardyne ripped us apart at ER in the SC, I'd take him but that's it.

Gardyne is never a striker in a month o sunday's

Celtic, Morton and Ross County. Gardyne is more of a Gordon Stachan type of player ( I *** HOPE SO) and at 5'7 might look like him. Supports ra sellic though.

Could be a player but never a STRIKER.

Great... A bottom six 1st Division club has players coming into a SPL bottom six club to improve them...

Still its Hibs. It's entirely possible....

Those of you who are PM's, did you read Shug's post about his chat with CC at the sponsor's night?.......

Is there anything in that to make you think that these three are the level of player he's after?

if any of those players, or any player of that calibre ends up at ER in the close season I will be looking for a refund on my season ticket. Those sort of names will have us closing the new east to save on turnstile and stewarding costs.

From the thread, No, but it's a bit like me and cars. There's what I want and what I can actually afford.

To be clear I don't know whether this is right or not. But apparently they are convinced that's what's happening.

Whether they are the guys we should be going for is another debate. But since CC has appeared to be a decent judge of a player so far, and obviously Adams knows them inside and out, I'll at least give them a chance before flipping out!

I very much doubt it, my source @ County says Hibs have been keeping tabs on Vigurs who in my opinion is complete pash:wink:

I hope this isnt a sign of what to come next season.

A couple of weeks ago one of the county youth players released last year told me that hibs were looking to sign 3 current county players. Gardyne was one, the other was the lad who had previously played for Livingston, can't remember the third one.

Like Tonez said in an earlier post we were keeping tabs on Vigurs and Ritchie Britain seems to think we are watching him too. Neither Vigurs or Britain are good enough!

Craig Conway, Danny Swanson, Danny Grainger, David Robertson, Paul Dixon, Morgaro Gomis, Barry Douglas. All lower league players signed by one club, Dundee United. The 3 highlighted came from Berwick, Cowdenbeath & Queens Park respectively. Anyone fancy those players at ER??
Rather than condemning players who we're only rumoured to be signing it may be more sensible to wait & see.

Gardyne is quick with a bit if skill, and a decent finish against us too. Decent squad player maybe.

Exactly, great point. Pretty much all of our best players have come from nowhere and made a career from being at Hibs whether that be from youth, amateur or lower league football.

I've been watching Hibs for 30 years and can think of few players that have been stellar signings that have gone on to great things with Hibs or others, there are always exceptions but generally when a player signs with big expectations more often than not it ends in disappointment.

So we sign a few players from smaller clubs that didn't work out so we should never try it again?

Our rivals have long made good use of plucking players from the lower leagues and turning them into gems. The notion that such things are somehow beneath us is mindboggling.

I do get a kill out of people who suddenly think players are somehow not this mythical "Hibs class" because of where they play their football currently.

This season young Hasselbaink has been MOM in 3 of the four games against us (the other midweek game I think he was sub IIRC, where we won 2-1). Imrie the last few games for Hamilton has been inspirational for them. Skill, drive and guts in shedloads. Gardyne last year at ER was certainly a player who looked beyond his league. These three players are good footballers, simple as that. Put them in a team with the right blend and mix, potentially they could be part of a great team !

I am certain CC will not use all his funds to get players in from lower league teams in Scotland or indeed plunder Hamilton, however I would not be too concerned if we got these players in. Add in another 3 quality players then who knows.

Pre-season at Carlisle there was a young forward Zoko who for me was absolutely head and shoulders technically above any of the Hibs players on the park. Until reaching Carlisle he was in the Belgian Second Division. Luck and fate can mean a player ends up in a league well below his own standards. Hopefully CC and DA have that eye for a player and can look beyond some of us fans and look at the player, not where he is currently plying his trade.

The list was only of Dundee United players signed from lower divisions, in the case of at least 3 of them significantly lower than Ross County's current division. It was intended to show a club can flourish despite signing a number of lower division players. It's not to say all are good or all are bad but to keep an open mind ( on what is only a rumour ) until such time as they turn out for the Hibs!
PS, Templeton from Stenny's not been too bad either unfortunately!

Been told us and Aberdeen have offered Barrowman a deal.

Just a rumour of course...
