Paul has signed a two year extention to his current deal which will keep him at ER until 2016. OR until the OF want him.

Good news, he's got ability and is still young. If he improves as i believe he needs to, he can go on and have a good career. I'm not 100% convinced with him, but as i say, he's young decent and willing to learn i hear. He has a chance.

Great news. Booth also signed till 2016. Now we desperately need a strong, kickass ch to help these young guys. Duberry fae st j anyone?

I think theres two positions where we can justifiably give a wage matching the top earners already at the club, with the newly reshuffled budget, a goal scoring striker to partner Sodje, and a dominant right footed CB to partner Hanlon.

A less injury prone Webster wouldve been perfect, fingers crossed CC can find someone to fit the bill.

:agree: Great news that PH has extended - he's showing all the signs of developing into a very good player indeed.

Absolutely agree that we need a player with experience and quality in there beside Hanlon and Booth - both for the sake of their development and for the sake of the team as a whole.

Dicoh has been good at times but a nightmare at others at CH - OK as a squad player but someone with more gravitas needed in there as a first pick.

Our record this season shows the defence hasn't been great obviously, but Hanlon's progress is the main positive to take from the last 9 months. Still learning, but centre half for years to come hopefully.

Not sure how old Duberry is but he fits the bill as far as I am concerned. Not as a kick ass type ch but more as a very experienced mentor, leader and highly professional as a player and a person. Exactly what our very young but high potential back 3 need. Booth, Hanlon and Towell are all existing U21 internationals and future potential full internationals.

Duberry could be the type of person we need to help them fulfill that promise and break the cycle of unfulfilled talent that so often happens in young Scottish/British players.

Think he's about 35 but you need only lool at Davie Weir to see that age is no barrier to success in the spl for a ch. Alternatively, Rob Jones is out of favour at recently relegated Scunthorpe..................

Laddie is 100% committed to being a successful football player, he will make it.

A lot of fans doubt him as they are entitled to do, but everybody in the game can't speak highly enough of him.

TM, JC, MP, JH and now CC all realised this as has Billy Stark and others in the Scotland set up. He has captained the Scotland 19s, 21s and has captained our club. Not too bad for someone who only turned 21 in January.

Hibs aint daft, nobody gets a deal of that duration these days (Callum Booth as well) without being capable of making the club big bucks.

Excellent news. He has improved game on game since CC arrived and getting stronger physically.

His partnership with Booth was one of the few strong points from last week. His pass to Sodje for the goal was the other.

Great news - when clubs (ours included) are releasing players all over the place and trying to get new ones in, its great to see we have our priorities right in making sure that these good young players won't be in that situation for many years yet. Well done CC and the board.

Hanlon is and will be a great asset to this club for a long time - IMO he will only get better and his ability and versatility will benefit us greatly.

Great news, Paul's really come on under Calderwood and we should be looking at him as our centre half for as many years ahead as possible.

With the Hibs supporters penchant for turning on their own, whats the odds on Hanlon being next. The struggling Nish had every shred of confidence destroyed by dreadful abuse from the crowd and Riordan has taken more than his fair share of flak on this messageboard. Good luck Paul, you will need it.

Good news, once he fills out a bit more and becomes a bit more aggressive he'll be a really good centre half. His reading of the game and timing are brilliant and his passing is getting better all the time :agree:

This makes interesting reading. Thats another 8 with contracts expiring next summer. If we have a squad of 20 as CC has quoted then thats nearly half that could leave.

Although you could argue there are only 2 or 3 you would want to keep.

Contracts arent worth the paper they are written on.And certainly doesnt mean the player will full fill it.

I think theres every chance the above might be out the door in the coming summer even with their longer terms, of those expiring, Id be happy if Miller got a new deal, without breaking the bank, Towell on a season loan, and Stack on a pay as you play.

Excellent News, Rodders will be rubbing his hands at how much we'll rake in for Hanlon and Booth now we have them tied up.

Now the big decision, should we sell them to Celtic or Rangers?

Probably only fair that we sell them 1 each:rolleyes:

Hanlon still has a lot of improving to do as he's nowhere near the finished product.

But he has potential, is improving all the time and has a good attitude to the game.

Good news he has signed an extension i think.

I am happy enough we have given Hanlon a new contract, but I think we need to sign TWO CBs for next season, as I don't think Hanlon or Stevens are reliable enough yet.

that would be funny if it was not so painfully true!!

i wonder if the bookies would ever take odds on that kinda thing???

i'll have a fiver on him going to either of the old firm within 3 years
