The inquest jury has found that Ian Tomlinson was unlawfully killed. The DPP is to review its decision not to prosecute PC Simon Harewood.

Not read the article but the policeman should have been prosecuted for the shove on him. It was clear he wasn't a protester immediately.

Policeman on a powertrip.

The PC assaulted a bbc cameraman just a few minutes before his cowardly attack on Tomlinson. He was clearly just out on a spree of violence. The question is, will there be a conviction?

I think now yes, the met spokesperson spoke out quite clearly against the officer last night so I think any attempts to protect there own are unlikely now.

Highly likely there will be. Another question that needs properly answered is why CPS decided to drop the case in the first place.

Exactly!!! It's all very well them saying they're going to review it now, but the CPS had the same evidence that was presented at this inquest - so why did they come to a very different conclusion?

I'm not sure if it was the same protest but a camera caught a PC giving a woman a back-hander right across the face then used his baton on her legs, and yet again the CPS decided not to prosecute. I know the police have a hard job to do, sometimes is very trying circumstances, but that doesn't give them the right to assault any Tom, Dick or Harry they take a dislike to.

Just imagine for a minute that is was the other way round and Tomlinson had pushed the policeman to the ground and then he'd died. Justice must be even handed.

A manslaughter trial in June. As well as the actual attack on Tomlinson, it will be interesting to hear the first coroner (patel) explain how and why he came to the conclusion Tomlinson died of a heart attack (despite there being no evidence to support this)...he has a history of dishonesty in previous medical inquests.

Haha, sitting on the fence are we?? I agree in principle. IIRC the women that got a bit of a slap was one of your usual 'oh ya' left wing types trying to be really "rebellious" by getting right in the PC's face and yapping abuse at him. Tomlinson had his bk turned and was walking away from the PC in question, not behaving in an agravating fashion at all.

Is this the numpty that came out a few days later and said that she could no longer walk on the same side of the road as a police officer because she was so traumatised by what happened?
