Just reading the Man City - West Ham match report and came across this (http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/215450_10150155570318780_778528779_6638265_750708_ n.jpg) aerial view picture and this (http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x11/MartinLeRoy/1-7.jpg) mock up of West Ham's potential new stadium.

Don't know the in's and out's of West Ham and Spurs' bid but who the heck would want to watch fitba in an environment like that? Literally miles away from the pitch!?

Fantastic stadium no doubt for athletics, but for fitba, not for me

Surely not?

Definitely not my cup of tea though, especially for a smaller team like West Ham.

West Hams football probably looks better from a distance. They're humpty.

Having seen Melbourne Victory play at the Etihad Arena which is more suited to AFL I can say that it certainly takes a fair bit of the atmosphere away especially when in the quieter areas. Far more detached. The Victory massive still seemed to enjoy themselves though even though they drew 0-0 and got put out the ACL. They were doing a Conga!

I read somewhere they are looking at retractable seating on the lower level!!

but thats a long way out from the away goals if they dont get the seats closer!

Great athletics stadium, pish football stadium.

Man City had the right idea when they completely revamped the City of Manchester after the Commonwealth games although obviously this isn't an option for West ham due to the Olympic legacy ruling.

Those views are horrific. Don't really think a 60k plus stadium in the championship with a view that far away from the pitch is really a particularly good fit

Part of the reasoning behind West Ham's bid being favoured was that they would keep the running track so will be difficult to see how they can offer a decent football stadium to their fans.

Stuttgart and Bremen are now nearing the end of their stadium upgrades which involved doing away with the running tracks. One of the few poor stadiums left in the Bundesliga in my opinion is Nurnberg which still has a track. Decent fans down there but not helped that they are so far back from the pitch and not a good view either really.

Apparently you will be closer to the action at the OS than you are currently at Wembley?

Except if memory serves me right those distances were based on the back row of the top tier at Wembley and one of the closest seats at the Olympic Stadium!

Were Spurs not intending to knock the stadium down and start afresh

This whole debacle really irks me, Gold and Sullivan took over West Ham purely to get the Olympic Stadium and stand to benefit massively from this.

For that reason I hope they end up in League 1 playing infront of an empty stadium.

Shame cos West Ham are a decent club with a great footballing tradition, if I were a supporter I wouldn't be happy at all.

My sympathy to anybody who supports West Ham. Hell ... I think the East at ER is too far from the pitch, it would be murder watching football at the Olympic stadium.

Given the football that's been on show at ER this season our East Stand is not only too close to the pitch, it's also facing the wrong way!

Defodon't agree. If it was any closer, the muppets that chuck things at derby games might have a better chance of hitting somebody on the pitch, instead if just their own fans. I'm sure Hibs built it further away purely to prevent this happening.

Sorry, should have put a smiley there. I wasn't being serious.

Anyway, why did they build the stand bigger than the other three?
