After all the negativity surrounding Balotelli its nice to here some good news about the guy.

he gave a homeless man £1,000 after a trip to the casino, it kind of proves that these superstars have a heart.

Still not sure about Balotelli but I do think it's unfair for footballers to be judged as people while playing football, I know some footballers seem like pricks but actually turn out to be nice guys off the field.

No doubt it was a nice gesture but it is the equivalent of a normal person handing over 50p.

Considering that £1000 is less than 1% of his weekly salary, it's a bit like the average person on the street giving about £2.50 to a charity.

Put in those terms, it's not really all that extraordinary.

I still don't like the guy on the pitch but it has definately improved my opinion of him off of it :agree:

I'm sure the homeless guy will have noticed the difference and will have found it quite extraordinary.

even though its a fraction of his weekly wages, the fact he felt/knew he could have given it to the man speaks volumes. Players do charity work all the time by slapping there face on a campaign, but to actually walk out and had a man 1000 pounds is unheard of.

I am pretty sure Balotelli does alot of work/fund raising/funding for enviromental charities and also for refugee charities which is to be commended.

He does however come across as a complete tit on the field and I believe Man City have to organise his spare time to keep him occupied. Very strange player.

Guff.
There is no equivalent. He has handed over £1000. Extraordinary, unless you know better and these things happen in Falkirk a lot. He may be a strange character but this is remarkably generous.

And all of us average persons on here tip £2.50 into the polystyrene cup of a homeless beggar every week?

Come to think of it, why not try the dog and rope thing up the top of the Walk next weekend for your forfeit?

We have a winner. I like it. :aok:

I would rather read that Balotelli had donated the £1000 to Cancer Reseach or some other worthwhile charity rather than hand it to some homeless guy who will no doubt squander it on drink and drugs and still be sitting in the same place next month homeless, hungry and skint.

Exactly! Anyone who is stupid enough to say this means nothing needs there head read.

What % it is of his wage is irrelevant, the fact of the matter is the guy who does not have a pot to p£ss in now has a grand in his hand, some might argue that is life changing for the guy.

As a few correctly point out, how many of us hand over that sort of money each time we bump into a homeless person on Princess Street?!

:agree: Might have been a terrorist. Pretty irresponsible to give £1000 to a potential terrorist, no questions asked.

Balotelli is Trash!

Isnt it very convenient that the media were there when this happened? :agree:

He needs todo something positive after the week of abuse hes been given, and having the media to point it out only helps drag this piece of **** out of the drain into the gutter.

Im in Italy now,and was last year when he was at Inter! You try finding anyone that has anything positive to say about his attitude or footballing ability....as they both stink more than Mother Teressas sandles!

Balotelli is a tit i agree but IMO you cannot question his talent. He has eveything needed to be a brilliant player but probably never will be due to his attitude.

He has mental health issues now? Maybe its because he is black and due to racial problems in his homeland it has made him aggressive as a form of defence.

What a guy! There I was thinking he was a complete berk and all the time he's the Good Samaritan!

The moral of the story is if you're a beggar, get yourself a pitch outside a casino.

It's a no-brainer.

You might have to wait up till four a.m. or whatever but it could be worth it.

Very generous act. Why some on here would play it down says more about them than it does about Balotellie

It is pretty relevant though about what that is in relative terms for him.

Yes, it makes a huge difference to the guy who got it, probably, but as a gesture it's no different to your average punter giving over a couple of quid in a charity box or whatever.

There's a lot of celebrities who get praise for giving over what seems like large sumes of money to varous things but as a percentage of what they are worth there are people on poor salaries giving far more in terms of what they can actually afford.

Bono in particular does my nut in. If he's that bothered about world poverty then just leave himself enough to live on and ditch the rest of the wealth!

I disagree Kev.

It's easy to come out a casino £25k up and throw a small fraction of that at a homeless guy sitting at the front door, and some people are making some pretty relevant points about it.

Would he have done the same if he was £25k down on the night?

And how will this kind act be taken by others in Manchester in a similar plight, and how will it affect the guy that received it (and his relationship with others)?

I would give more credit to a player that actually gave up some of his time to visit a homeless shelter, than to one (it would appear) with more money than sense.

Seems to me he's damned if he had and damned he hadn't. He's no hurt anybody so fair play to the guy, and I'll bet the homeless gadge was well chuffed. Win-win as far as I can see but who knows eh? :dunno:

I cant believe there is people saying that it's not that big a deal. Regardless of how much or little 1k is to him, a homeless man is now £1000 richer, im sure that means the world to him and he will be very thankful to get that.

Yeah it may not make a difference to Balotelli as it's a small amount, but it will mean lots to the guy getting the money.

Good point.

I would also be worried for the homeless guy's safety. It probably wouldn't take long for the news to spread of his good fortune and he could be a very easy target for muggers. Where could a homeless person hide £1000?

Underneath the empty Weetabix box he uses as a drawer for his plastic cutlery?
