My son has been getting lessons and its already making a big difference.

I got him a wee set a couple of years ago but he's outgrown them and I thought I might get him a new set as he's really enjoying it.

Took him round Portobello today and he was cracking drives consistently about 120-140 yards.

Any recommendations - he's only 9 by the way?

Dont really want to spend any more than £100

Cheers Ronnie they do look good. Do any stores stock them - was thinking of going tomorrow to buy them.

I'll give gumtree a shot as well.

We'll get a game soon :aok:

Given that your boy will be growing fast, how about eBay? I don't think there's a lot of point in investing a lot until his growing has slowed down.

upstairs in JJB next to pets at home had kids full sets. They were between £60 and £80 if I remember correctly. Probs not the best clubs around but they grow out of them so fast! Scott got a kids set there a few years ago and it did him fine. He also got a couple of top up single ones in sports direct and donnay as he started to grow out of them, again probs not the best ever but were a good start for him.

Its golf shoes I need to invest in for him soon, between golf shoes, football boots, astro trainers, school shoes and his day to day trainers I need a second job!

Aye I'm gonna check Turnhouse but I think it's a bit pricey.

I was in American golf on Tuesday with him - he picked the Taylor Made set at £250 :greengrin

You can bring your laddie - you'll need someone to carry your clubs :greengrin

I've checked eBay - but I prefer to see them in person.

Not a lot on gumtree either.

Cheap set out of JJB may be the way to go :aok:

You can't go wrong with the junior sets at JJB, think they're called Masters??

I tried a couple of JJB's but they didn't have the right size.

Thanks for all the suggestions all - I ended up getting a set at the Scottish Golf Centre down at Seafield.

Good selection in different age groups :aok:

My 14 yo has outgrown his and is using his brothers adult set, although the pro said he's not worried by the length it's the weight of them. (don't know how a 14 yo boy has weak wrists, but there you go :greengrin)

Looking online you can get a Masters half set for £60 odds and additional clubs about £15 a pop, does SGC compete with these prices?

Was thinking maybe about a ladies set for him, are they lighter than mens or just shorter?

Ladies ones are lighter. My 14 year has a set. He had outgrown the junior ones but mens ones were a bit too long and way too heavy for him.

My 12 year old has ladies clubs. He is big for his age but they are perfect for him.

I bought my wee man a set of Dunlop Loco - Driver, hybrid, 7, 9 and putter, standbag and 24 lake balls on eBay for £48.50 delivered. He already has some Slazenger clubs - 3w and 5 iron, and Callaway 6iron. We'll try them Sunday pm. He's 11 and showing interest - we're only 100yds from our wee course so a long hot summer should have him hooked :greengrin
