Was reading Ted Brack's book 'There is a bonny fitba team' and it got me thinking the other day about how many average foreign players we have had of late. How good would it be if CC could pull of a masterstroke like Eck M did in bringing in Sauzee and Latapy.

My team of Non-Scots from my time is

Budgie

De La Cruz Sauzee Laursen Murphy

Sproule Latapy Bamba O'Neill

Mixu Baker

Think that team would give any of the current SPL teams a run for their money.

Don't think we'll ever see the likes of Sauzee and Latapy so will settle for CC plucking a few more gems like Palsson from the reserves of the EPL

I'd make space for Zitelli, probably at the expense of Mixu.
Aside from the ridiculous absence of Konte, its a good effort.

Oh and George Best.

pondered over the best boy but felt he was past his best by the time he came to us! tell you what i'll have him as a subby to bring back all the great songs and banter that flew about during his time !!!

Latapy
Bamba
Agathe

Libbra
Killen

I know Libbra and Agathe weren't at the club for long but the time they were here I thought they were immense!

Also surprised to see so many people choose De la Cruz? He was on the besch quite a lot towards the end of the season IIRC!?

Can I mention here Didier Agathe?

Oft forgotten and a very good player. A strong runner up and down the right.

Never seen the boy play - but I'd find a place for Welshman Peter Atherton who captained the club in the early part of last century.

Stokes Zitelli

like the look of that team... Boozy was a close run with Bamba in my original team but thought Bamba and Latapy would compliment each other better...... Stokes close as well but still pissed off with him pissing off on last day leaving us short... maybe being a bit harsh on him as the tic and RP were probably more culpable in the timing.

Mines would be.

GK: Colgan

LB: Ulrik Laursen
CB: Le God
CB: Doumbe
RB: De la Cruz , although a shout out goes to Jimmy Bocco :greengrin

LM: Shiels
CM: Matty Jack
CM: Latapy
RM: Zemmama

CF: Paco Luna
CF: Gareth Evans. Laugh all you want but they guy has been a great servent to the club and even though a good few of them came from the bench he played over 250 games for us.

If we'd have got a full season out of Killen he would of had to be in there. Guy was awsome for us. And I don't get the Libbra thing. A lot of fans rate him and liked him but you'd be lucky if he played 10 times for us.

Only one mention for the Baker Boy??

Can I also add John Madsen as a shout for centre-half?

And Isaak Refvik?

And, um, does Alex Cropley count?? :greengrin

Madsn's predecessor - Big John MacNamee for centre half. None better since the 60's.

Probably because he was as Scottish as Rob Roy.

Having to play for the country of your birth was farcical - especially for the kids of men and women in the armed forces.

Wasn't the Baker father a merchant seaman? Hence Joe born in Liverpool and Gerry in NYC.

Oops. I stand corrected. Why did I think he was Irish. Old age/pickled brain!
