Theres a sports bar off the main square in the centre of town, don't know any street names but if ye see a big bank of Ireland your in the right vicinity, good pint too I may add. Enjoy

I would recommend The Kings Head, plenty screens, and a great pub for sports.

For the victory celebrations post-match, go over the road to Tig Cóilí, a great wee boozer that should have live sessions on on a Sunday afternoon, and try Taffes which is in that corner of town and another great pub. Don`t know where you are based, but these pubs, and most of the places you want to be are situated down the bottom of the pedestrianised main street (Shop Street), with bars and eating places a plenty. Recommendations for night time would be;

Front Door http://www.galwaycitypubguide.com/all-pubs/the-front-door-sonny’s.html

Bierhaus http://www.galwaycitypubguide.com/all-pubs/bierhaus.html

Busker Brownes http://www.galwaycitypubguide.com/all-pubs/busker-brownes.html

One place you need to visit is O`Connells, it`s on Eyre Square, but best for an earlier in the day beer http://www.galwaycitypubguide.com/all-pubs/o-connells.html.

Sure you will enjoy it, a very lively small city. Will be travelling over myself on the Sunday night following the derby, so every chance I`ll be in one of those pubs around midnight or so hopefully toasting a famous victory!

Remember that the country gaelic sports teams play in maroon, as do Galway United. So if you feel to have a swing at some bloodied turd-clad ******, check the accent first.

Oh, but they also have Galway Hibs.

Galway's a great place, I was there for a weekend for my brother's 40th last year :cheers:

I'd heartily endorse Busker Brownes for night-time but I'd add The Quays too: go exploring inside - you'll not believe how cavernous it is in there when your standing outside!

Kings Head is good at all times and Garavans and the corner pub between The Quays and Busker Brownes (I've forgotten it's name) are great for daytime.

Oh, and next to The Quays is Riordans :greengrin cafe/bistro whose top breakfast is about 9 euros but is awesome :not worth

Word of warning about the match though: the w/end I was there was at the start of the season when the Gers were at ER on a Sunday lunchtime and despite extensive searching :wink: I couldn't find a pub showing it, Kings Head included. Chatting to a barman in there and he said it was a lack of availability of Sky Sports 4 ... and the derby ... is on SS4! Hope Sky have sorted this out for them over there.

There's a converted church now a nightclub, forget its name if ye fancy a swatch at some snatch in the old town which is quality.
