According to Icelandic media if he keeps up his performance levels for Hibs he could be selected for Icelands Euro qualifier against Cyprus next month. Iceland u-21s will face England two days later, so he could play that game also. Incidently Iceland U-21s have also a friendly game against the Ukraine U-21s two days before the Cyprus game.

Good luck to the laddie. Have been very impressed with him Iceman. Good attitude, workrate and touch. Good range of passing as well.

If he keeps this up he'll do well in the game :agree:

The lad certainly looks a player. Technically very good but what impresses me most is his attitude. Seems unfazed and relaxed in what he does but at the same time is totally committed.

Early days to really judge him but from what we have seen he looks like a real leader...captain material even. At 19yr old.:not worth

Stepped up to slot that pen on saturday...thats a cool head on young shoulders.

18 month contract?....why!

18 month contract?....why!

He's the new Sauzee dontcha know.....................

Caldo is a genius getting him ahead of all the other clubs beating down the anfield doors to sign him.
Fair play to him picking a relegation threatened SPL club over these giants of world football.

Hopefully he lives up to his early promise.

I highly doubt the 18 month contract would have been at Hibs' insistence.

Coming from Liverpool's reserves, where by all accounts he was highly rated, he'll be aiming to play at a higher level than the SPL so he'll be wanting to spend a year to 18 months with us, impressing any scouts that come and watch him, try to get into Iceland's first team squad and then attempt to get a move back down to England by the end of next season.

Hibs are nothing more than a stepping stone for him and there was no way that he was ever going to come here on a 3 or 4 year contract.

Would an 18 month contract not mean in reality that in the window next year he would be free to sign a pre- with another team? Knda annoying that he is constantly referred to as being on loan.

Unfortunately I think you are correct.

As the OP i own you all in this thread:greengrin Stop bitching!

Seriously though....

I understand why the player might have wanted a 18 month contract but perhaps a 30-42 month with clause would have suited better? Clause being that if a team of a certain standard comes in with an offer of X+ then he can leave?

However.....based on his performance's so far if he plays like that for 18 months and then moves on for zero transfer fee to bigger and better then fair do's.

Why worry how long he'll stay? Just enjoy him while he's here surely. Anyway, hes already kissed the badge so a 2025 testimonial is on the cards.

Why are people adamant that he refused to sign a 3/4 year contract? Could it be possible that CC & the board felt that a 19yr old may be a risk therefore offer him only an 18 month contract with a view to extending it in the summer should his first 6 months go well?

Just a thought.

:agree: Agreed. If he gives us a great 12 months then moves on to an EPL club, then fair play to him.

Is there a chance that he only signed for 18 months, because Hibs took over the remainder of his contract?

3 weeks ago we had no idea who this boy was, Now after only 2 games we are making noises to get him on a longer deal. Lets wait until the end of the season before we make a full decision on him! Hibs likewise can talk to him if his performances improve.
