X Flare released from the Sun!

Dunno if anyone is interested in Astronomy, but I read that an X Flare (the biggest type of Solar Flare) has erupted from a sunspot in the early hours of yesterday morning, look for some strange effects in the night sky, mainly the Northern Lights being visible. Been reported over Northern Ireland and other parts of the UK already.

Considering solar flares are more and more being seen as responsible for unusual weather patterns (potentially much more so than man made global warming) then can we expect a super hot summer or maybe snow in June!?!

Dunno about that, don't think anything is conclusive in that respect, what is for sure though is that this solar cycle is pretty unusual, we had a deep solar minimum in 2008 and some crazy weather (Think I'm right in saying this particular solar cycle is pretty unimpressive), could be coincidence though as I think co2 controls the weather here rather than solar activity. Although if we (by that I mean the Earth and not Musselburgh :D) are to see some mental weather it would be in 2014-15 when the "downside" of this cycle starts.

The Solar Flares are getting bigger and bigger....

Think the Chinese were saying there was some disruption on their shortwave communications caused by the Flare/electromagnetic storm.
