I don't know what Herriot the keeper did but he wasnae a vet

the reason James Whyte called himself 'Herriot' as a nome-de-plume (after the goalkeeper, after watching him) was that there was no vet with this name

on the tornadoes video I think

Didn't Whyte call himself Jim Herriot after a Birmingham City goalie of that name, who was no relation to our Jim Herriot - unless they were brothers, like the Showumnis?

We also get a mention in the James Herriot museum in Thirsk - that's when I first seen the link. He apparently liked the connection of two Scots who were making a success in England "working with their hands"

(it's actually really good there, with sets from "All Creatures Great And Small" all still set-up, and the actual vet rooms left exactly as they were at the time....)

When he came to Hibs, you could say he was a "vet"

"Veteran - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - A veteran (from Latin vetus, meaning "old") is a person who has had long service or experience in a particular occupation or field."

As mentioned above, the fictitional Vet character "James Herriot" was named after him.

He was inspired to be a bricklayer in his days at ER. Often, as he was about to stick yet another clearance over the stand, one could hear the cry from St. Paddy... "hod it, Cilla, hod it....".
