Let's face it, he's either leaving or his appearances are going to be so limited that we'll barely see him again. So any fave 'Ranks' memories?

I'll go for the 'squiggler' against Borat.

Favourite moment? The expiry date on his contract.

A First Division player. Many see something and when you ask what you get "He works his b******s off...".

That's not quite enough to be a player even in the SPL.

A player who always gave 100% . Cant tackle to save himself and poor in the air.Very rarely wasted a pass but too many of them were sideways. Not what is required for us I'm afraid. Good luck wherever you end up.

He tried but failed.

Great goal at IPox would be the highlight (although anything that presents the opp. to laugh at Artur the Clown was always welcomed).

Not a wage thief by any stretch of the imagination.

Just a decent squad player.

Agree , all too often a scapegoat when others were more deserving. Good luck to the guy when he leaves.

I'm struggling as there have been so many. with all the overhit/underhit set pieces, those moments where his brain suddenly tells him he is Glenn Hoddle and duck hooks an impossible pass straight out the park or when he lines up a 60 yard shot for the 1000th time and sclaffs it.

Loads of effort but footballers should get picked ability and unfortunately he has none. What Sir Alex was drinking when he took this boy down to Old Trafford I've no idea. This boy should be playing Saturday Amateur level at best

He always gave 100%, and did score a couple of belters but we do need better, and it does look as if we have got better in now.

Me too. I still think he's going to feature before the end of the season

Squiggler for me, simply because it was the best day of my life- Meeting the Hibs players, beating Smeltic, then going through to Glasgow to see the Kings of Leon!

Sums it up for me.

Certainly not a wage thief, always gave 100% but ultimately wasn't good enough and has been replaced by better. May still have a role to play between now and the end of the season depending on injuries and suspensions.

My Dad's favourite player...

...based purely on the fact that he seems to shout his name during games more than any other member of the team. :greengrin

p.s. It must be great being a Hibs player, especially when your own supporters are already writing your obituary and you haven't even left yet.

Ah well - all a matter of opinion as usual :greengrin
At the end of the day opinions count for nothing - the manager will make the decision

Rankin's squiggler against Celtic was one of my favourite ever moments as a Hibs fan. Ended up running right to the front of the East Stand yelling "****IN' BRILLIANT". Good day. :greengrin

He scored 1 belter v the Huns. The 1 v Celtic was a mammoth balls up fae Boruc. Rankin shoots fae the centre circle, the baw bounces on the penalty spot, Boruc falls over:agree:

The Celtic squiggler game, of course.

It wasnt just the goal, his allround play was fantastic in that match, he broke things up, passed the ball intelligently and was just, well, not like John Rankin at all. It was bizarre, like Claude Makelele had become a shape changer and assumed JR's form for the afternoon.

He went back to normal the following week IIRC.

Rankins a player I dont really get. Think he could be a decent squad player, some of his performances show that, but then he can have some absolute shockers. Hes played over 100 games for us as well and Ive still no idea what his favoured position is?

That squiggler was also one of the worst things that could have happened as he seems to think he can do it all the time, where he will shoot from ridiculously far out when there are better options available to him.

If he could improve his decision making (or basically just stop shooting every time he gets the ball) and work on his tackling then I think he could be a useful enough squad player when we are hit by an injury/suspension crisis, but if CC could bring in someone better than I really wouldnt be bothered.

Goal at ibrox aside, he has been absolutely murder and the fact he has chalked up over 100 games shows how poor our last 2 managers have been.

Glad our new manager seems to have a decent eye for a player.:cgwa

As for the "Sqiggler" - wish it never happened 'cos he wasted SO MANY chances afterwards trying to repeat it Aaagggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Behave!

Its not worked out for him at Hibs at all but I reckon he could still end up playing, and being an important player, for another SPL team next season.

I won't be sad to see him go as he's not performed for us at all, but he'll do alright elsewhere, as will Nish and Hogg.

pretty average player who had an amazing knack of being able to run around a lot almost intentionally struggling to find space - when the going got tough he in most cases was nowhere to be seen

So he is now single handedly responsible for the loss at Somerset Park ?

Personally, I'm inclined to blame Chuck Sheen for the Somerset Park debacle. Had he not been self indulgent with hookers and crack insome LA hotel room, we'd be the ones anticipating a semi right now.

I think Mr Sheen would have wiped the table with Ayr United that fateful night, and cleaned up for Hibs. I know we would have taken a shine to him had he scored.
