I was in the gyle today and overheard an old couple moaning about people smoking in the shopping centre as I was walking past them.
I thought they were mad as people just don't do that any more...until I seen a guy propped up against one of these stalls, smoking away bold as brass!

I've never seen one of these e-cigs before but they certainly look convincing. for those who don't know it's an electronic device with liquid nicotene in a detatchable filter. You inhale it and get a draw of nicotene without the bad stuff. You even exhale smoke (harmless vapour) and the end lights up when you inhale. It can taste of whatever you want it to...nothing, fags or even vanilla!
I had a few drags and I couldn't honestly tell if I was getting any nicotene in my body or not but it seems like the whole "hand-to-mouth" thing would be taken care of if you were to try and quit using this method.

I genuinely never even knew these things existed and am quite taken by the whole idea. There's the 30 odd quid to buy the thing and it's chargers but 50p for the equivalent of a twenty deck sounds convincing.

Anyone else ever come across these things before, have any experience of using them or know someone who has? There has to be a catch somewhere.

Had a quick read on Wiki as I've never heard of them.

As there is no smoke or combustion involved I wonder what the law would be about having a wee puff at Easter Road and in the pubs.

See my previous post. Jakki had one at the Dnipro dinner a few months ago and at our night out a couple of weeks ago. No idea what the official law is but it's not a fag so imo doesn't apply. No smoke or smell so nobody would know. I'm sure Jakki will come on and tell us the script.

One of my mates is currently using one and says it is amazing. There is no law to stop you using one in designated no smoking areas but it is wise to let the management know what you are doing as others may follow your lead for real as its that realistic!

For an ex-smoker it blows my mind away as it looks so realistic, sounds silly but I'm quite tempted to get one...

Yes, I have them.

I just have a puff when and where I want to. As you are only exhaling water vapour, what we exhale everytime we breathe out but on a bigger scale, it is legal everywhere, or so I was told on buying them.

The make I bought only do the nicotine flavours but I will try the mint ones from another make if the filter fits my cigarette.

I managed to get down from 40 to 9 a day but admit to smoking more when out on the town but that's because of the strange looks I get, me being a wee shy auldie!

The Yanks here have been using them for a couple of years now. You even get Cigar ones though not sure if you get different brands:greengrin Seriously thought for a while about setting up a dealership of some sort in the UK with them but stuff happened and I never got round to finding out the legalities of using them in pubs etc. Missed opportunity perchancity?

My dad has one, he works on the sleeper train to London, he can use it on there. He likes it, but still buys real cigs so it's not really helping him to give up.....more giving him the opportunity to smoke at work.

My dad had one. I think he gave up using it because of all the funny looks he was getting at the bowling club.

I was doing research to find the cheapest "filters" for my kit and discovered e liquid. What you do, is drop 1 or 2 drops into your used "filter" and you're up and running again.It works out much cheaper than new filters.

I thought I would give it a try and got the methol one and the watermelon which was the special of the week at quarter price. Right now I am smoking the methol one and find the taste more enjoyable. Just a wee tip to the people who PMed me and going to give it a bash. :thumbsup:
