In typical Scottish/Hibs style, he seems to making a right James Hunt of his best chance ever to win a grand slam.

Murray's body language is terrible.

He's a wee boy in a man's game. You don't see Nadal, Federer, Djokovic's mum in the crowd in the same way as you see his. His tantrums etc don't help his game but i reckon he does them cos his mum is there, consciously or subconsciously. The guy needs to cut the apron strings a bit to make the next step up to a different level.

I don't know if they were in Melbourne for the Australian Open but Djokovic's mother, father and younger brother are regularly in his "box" to support him, wearing "N" "O" "L" "E" (that's his nickname) t-shirts and going mental every time he hits a good shot. Also, Rafael Nadal's uncle is his coach and he is very family orientated. A lot of players have family members at their matches to support them.

I would agree that Murray's attitude at times, particularly during the final, was poor and didn't help him at all. I don't necessarily agree that he does these things because his mother is there but you may have a point.

I'm just not sure if he has the mental toughness that is required to win a Grand Slam, that is all.

The things that he's been doing up 'til now have seen him get as high as 2nd in the world rankings and have seen him get to 3 Grand Slam finals.

The only current players who have achieved anything more than that are Juan Carlos Ferrero, Gaston Gaudio, Andy Roddick, Lleyton Hewitt, Juan Martin del Potro, Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer.

Maybe Murray will never win a Grand Slam, no-one knows on that score, but for someone who's not even 24 years old yet, he's already achieved far more than the vast majority of professional tennis players ever achieve in their careers.

What he has to work on now, above everything else, is becoming more aggressive in his tactics during matches against the other top players. His style of play will see him win against 99% of his opponents but against Djokovic, Federer and Nadal, that generally won't be enough.

He can't do much about his mental toughness because I firmly believe that you either have that in you or you don't so if that is his problem then he may struggle to win a Major but he must work on becoming more aggressive, coming much further up the court and looking to dictate play and dominate rallies.

At the moment, he very rarely does that and usually relies on his opponent making a mistake. That will only get him so far.
