You can 'Yam fud' me until your hearts are content, just thought you may be interested in this.

The hotel where Hibs put up their new signings (temporarily) and trialists, have just had someone booked in by Hibs.

Jakub Divis, a 24 year old Czech keeper.

My understanding is CC needs to be looking at Keepers, as long as we can get rid of the dross that already exists, Smith just isnt up to it, Stack doesnt instill long term confidence in me and god only knows whats going on with Brown, decent enough keeper IMO if he could kick a ball but assume there's issues in there somewhere now he's been left out.

6ft 5. Sounds ideal, albeit Maka was that size too. Certainly Dundee utd, hearts and hamilton have had good success with eastern European goalies, so may be a good start in rebuilding from the back. We shall see.

Colgan, Sauzee, Latapy, Mixu.......and build around........if only eh :greengrin

I still have a nagging suspicion that Michael Stewart will appear for Hibernian again. Best mates with Eoin Jess who in turn is friends with Calderwood.......

I remember when Calderwood was at Northampton he signed Eoin and Ian Taylor (ex Villa).........methinks CC will go down the road of getting in a couple of tried and tested players who he knows have been there and done it. So Stewart, now free, fits the bill perfectly and I think would harden up that midfield......also a very good penalty taker :agree:

That's quite revealing scoopy. I thought it was Joe Kinnear in charge at the time.

Do you think that CC will go down the "experience" route though ? Someone mentioned Christian Dailly the other day, and whilst not a signing which would get me all "leeds united", it could be one that fits the bill (or someone of that ilk)

Do we really need another keeper? Fair enough if 2 were going out the door now, but what a complete waste of wages if not.

Suppose if the boys any good (and if true), maybe its not a chance we should turn down, but if all we get this window is a keeper and a midfielder dont fancy our chances any more than before the start of January.

A good striker might win you a game but a good keeper might increase your chances of not losing a game! We need a keeper who can command his own area at set plays as while Brown is a steady keeper he is the same as the other two in being prone to staying on his line.

My understanding is that CC has been looking at keepers, so there may be something in this.

I've thought that Brown has been our most convincing keeper for years based on his form this season (best since Anderson???) - which has left me scratching my head at Calderwood dropping him for the last couple of games.

Both Stack and Smith are out of contract at the end of the season though - so if any incomer represented a significant improvement on the position then it wouldn't be such a bad move - doesn't seem like the priority to me though so it would be a waste of time and money unless the guy represented truly outstanding value for money IMO.

Football manager 11 says:

he is not as good as mark brown regards

handling and reflexes but he makes

better decisions and has more concentration.

he's got better; kicking, arial ability

and commands his box slightly better

(than brown), he can be quite

eccentric but nowhere near a makalamby

divis doesnt like to punch the ball

and his weakness seems to be when

one on one, (but is no worse than brown on this.)

he can be quite a controversial character

likes to win, and tends to display a lack of sportsmanship

he is also very right footed ;)

We shall wait and see lol.

Aye, but it would have been better if he had fallen out with De Graaf, Hart of Smith.........not Brown who has been our best player FFS.

We are now faced with Graeme "Coco the clown" Smith or Graham "gets injured tripping over a chalk line" Stack in goals.

Scary stuff.

If Brown has been dropped for getting on the wrong side of CC hopefully it proves to the squad that nobody is too good to be dropped if they cross the manager. That was a problem that seemed to exist with Yogi.

Even if they are in the right? Calderwood will do well to remember that it's all about results (clearly something he isnt aware of given his shambolic start at the club) and if Brown isnt injured, then he must have done something really bad for this balloon of manager to drop him and make us even more vulnerable.

Brown has allegedly fallen out with CC.

As far as I'm aware no-one that claims to be "in the know" has actually come out and said this. It's mere speculation from fans as to the reason behind him being dropped. Lets be honest, it could be 101 things.

IMO Smith is the worst goalkeeper we've had at the club for a long time, and we have had some right huddies. He is simply not good enough.
Stack is always injured, which leaves Brown as the only reliable decent goalkeeper we have.
The lad coming on trial is probably (hopefully) being brought in as competition for Brown with the other pair shown the door.

Could well be a 'trial' for both parties though.

Even if Hibs have been to watch him play it's likely to only have been once. The rest will have been made up of video footage and reports so maybe CC wants to see him in traning, see how he interacts with the squad, how he conducts himself in bounce games etc

As for him. Well he's a young guy. Moving from Czech Republic to Scotland is going to be a culture shock and a big change for him so maybe he wants to check out the facilities Hibs have, check out Edinburgh and Scotland, meet the coaches, players and so on and see if he feels he could settle here.
