I realise we need a number of players, investment in the team etc. However what we really need desperately is leadership on the park. If this could be right back or centre of midfield so much the better. This has been lacking for a long time and was blatantly obvious last night. I had hoped that Murray could make up for his other inadequacies by providing this but sadly not. The fact that Hughes supposedly let Miller and McBride choose between them who would be captain surely shows there is no outstanding leader in the current setup that fits the bill.
Surely between Calderwood's English and Adams' Scottish League connections they could unearth someone who would provide this. Someone in the Neil Lennon, Willie Miller, David Weir mould who is a winner, doesn't accept 2nd best , isn't afraid to put their body where it hurts, commands respect and lets referees and others know when they are unhappy. They don't need to be the most skillful or greatest of players but have that grit.
No-one springs to mind as to an obvious candidate. Can anyone else think of someone?
