Not wanting to depress anyone more than they currently are, but that is now three games without a goal scored - the Hertz game, the Ayr game and now the Celtic game.

It made me think of the past and I can recall going seven games in 1987/88 without seeing the Hibs score a goal and that included playing a SC game away to Dumbarton that finished 0-0. For the replay, I remember arriving about 5 minutes late from the pub only to hear a cheer as Hibs had been awarded a penalty. Great a chance to see a Hibs goal, I thought, only for us to miss it (Kano I think, though the goalie made a good save IIRC). We eventually won 3-0.

Checking the Hibs website, the run of games are below (our score first) - the away games when we scored were games that I obviously missed. Anyone else remember these games or a worse run of goal-less games .

L 0-1 H Celtic
L 0-1 A Dunfermline
L 0-2 H Rangers
W 2-1 A Dundee United
D 0-0 H Falkirk
D 0-0 H St Mirren
D 0-0 A Hearts
D 0-0 H Aberdeen
L 0-2 A Celtic
D 1-1 A Morton
D 0-0 A Dumbarton
W 3-0 H Dumbarton

That list only has us going 5 games without a goal or am I missing something:confused:

Anyway your right about it being concerning as at the moment I can't see where a goal is going to come from.

Aye but will we concede more than we score? At the moment we can't keep a clean sheet and don't look like scoring so a recipe for disaster.

My inclination towards optimism only allows me to make predictions in the most general of terms.

(However if pushed I would say Miller in the first half)

I think our inability / the fact we dont have a consistant goal scorer makes it far harder to keep a clean sheet.

If I was an oppotion manager I would be saying just go at them, regardless of what they do they will struggle to score.

The fact we dont retain / keep the ball in wide areas of up front puts us under pressure for the majority of ever 90 mins.

Fingers crossed Duffy can bring something new on this front.

The clue is that "I can recall seven games in 1987/88 without seeing the Hibs score a goal" not that Hibs went seven games without scoring a goal. IIRC the games that I was at and did not see a Hibs goal are the ones highlighted below:

L 0-1 H Celtic
L 0-1 A Dunfermline
L 0-2 H Rangers
W 2-1 A Dundee United
D 0-0 H Falkirk
D 0-0 H St Mirren
D 0-0 A Hearts
D 0-0 H Aberdeen
L 0-2 A Celtic
D 1-1 A Morton
D 0-0 A Dumbarton
W 3-0 H Dumbarton

Pretty sure we had a long run of games late 70's where we didn't score then against somebody even more pants that us we scored 5 or 6.

If you want to include pre season games we had a horrible run back in 2008

Hibernian 0 – 0 Rangers 4 May 2008
Celtic 2-0 Hibernian 11 May 2008
Hibernian 0 – 2 Motherwell 22 May 2008
Hibernian 0 – 2 IF Elfsborg 6 July 2008
IF Elfsborg 2 – 0 Hibernian 12 July 2008
Raith Rovers 0 – 0 Hibernian
FC Barcelona 6 – 0 Hibernian 24 July 2008
Cowdenbeath 2 – 0 Hibernian 28 July 2008
Clyde 3 – 0 Hibernian 30 July 2008

Fair enough alot of pre-season games there but still, there was alot of concern at the time
