Is that a cigarette someone has got hidden under that flag?

Sounds to me like this will happen but the lower division and relegation candidates need assurances about parachute payments and a phased move to a bigger league when standards and conditions are appropriate ie expansion ain't happening any time soon

I can't believe everyone is missing the best proposal and solution of all.....

12 team league everyone plays each other twice (22 games).

It then splits in two.

Top 6 play each other twice more to settle title and European places (32 games overall).

Bottom 6 play each other twice more to settle relegation with bottom team automatically relegated and second bottom involved in a play off with second top of SPL2 (32 games overall)

DUH!

Seems they have come to their senses for the moment

Now maybe Rod can concentrate on keeping us in the SPL instead of dreaming up such a crock of merde.

I don't think they necessarily have, I just think they messed up their own procedures so no vote could have legally taken place by their own rules.

They won't take a vote on it until the outcome is a certainty IMO.

i predict we will see stories about the Old Firm going to England...needing to break away from reducing finances...blah blah....other clubs not supporting their needs in europe etc etc as a form of black mail to try and get agreement on what they want...and maybe even threats of breaking away.....via press of course

They'll just do what the EU did in Ireland with the Lisbon Treaty, i.e. keep putting it to a poll until they get the outcome that they really want.

As was suggested by someone else on here earlier, I suspect they will get it once they insert cast iron guarantees to increase to a 16 or 18 team league 'once standards have risen' to get rid of the current excuse.

Whether they will get that or not I don't know. But it's not like being stuck with the current 12 set up spells disaster, so I doubt those in favour will be able to bully those against into it.
