In an effort to escape the confines of a Hibs best XI or squad or comparing generations of players against one another to see who's best which is as silly as who would win between Ali and Tyson, well Ali but you can see what I mean, it's not real.

Now I'm not saying there haven't been better players at Hibs than those on my list, but I'm going to list those had held a wee bit something special purely for me, it's not an eleven or even who's the best, it's just a bit of self-indulgent nostagla. I'd like you to chuck on here which players were special to you, as many as you want XI, more or much more. You can add your reasons or just post and look at your list in awe.

I'm not going to post reasons as I've tired myself out with the opening paragraphs.

Here goes, not in order other than when I thought of them (oh,and I'm only going to be going on the ones that I've seen play, so no disrespect to those who came before) :

Archibald
Goram
Leighton
Kevin McCallister
Michael O'Neill
Keith Wright
Darren Jackson
Mickey Weir
Zemmama
Sproule
Riordan
O'Conner
Scott Brown
Kevin Thompson
Franck Sauzee
Russell Latapy
Mixu
Mathias Jack
Murdo McLeod
Zitelli
John O'Neill
Yogi
Budgie
Pat McGinlay
Willie Miller

There's more but my chips are getting cold.

Great idea for a topic thread!

Ok, my personal faves, based on the fact I liked what they did but also that I felt they put a bit more effort in were, some of these names may not make logical sense to others but hey ho!

- Andy Millen, I know he's been slated by others but I liked him
- Danny Lennon, first game I saw him in was against Aberdeen when he was superb
- Kevin Harper
- Crunchie - my fave hibs player
- Leighton
- Evans, just because he put heart and soul into it
- Tommy McIntyre, just because he was a friend of a friend who introduced me to Hibs back in '93
- Paul Lovering
- Sauzee (obviously!)
- Latapy

The F F-boyhood heroes are always the best

Joe Baker first hero from my own age group

Neil Martin

Archie Buchanan and John Paterson

Lawrie Leslie a goalie to replace Younger after all the dumplings tried

Bobby Johnstone second time round

John Baxter and Bobby Duncan ran through brick walls for the team

George Stewart even if he arrived 5 years too late

Tommy Preston play practically anywhere

Joe McClelland frightened wingers all over the country

John Grant wholehearted all over the pitch

Willie McFarlane taught Joe McClelland how to frighten wingers

Andy Aitken could have won us the c*p if Clyde hadn'tkicked him up and down Hampden

Just a few from the past

I like all of the above but when I were a lad I used to love the George McCluskey cameo's in the late 80's.

Oh dear, so many to choose from, but here goes.
In no particular order:
Gordon Smith (the one and only)
Lawrie Reilly
Lawrie Leslie
Ronnie Simpson
Bobby Combe (was given his Hibs top when I was a laddie by a mate - afraid to say I ripped it up to make a banner )
John Grant
John Fraser (first Hibs captain I ever saw holding aloft silverware)
Ally McLeod (ex Scotland manager - remember his famous 'Ally Shuffle' - he had even thinner legs than me)
Johnny Grant (made Mickey Weir, years later, look like a giant)
Eric Stevenson (cost the Yams a fine when they signed him under-age)
The King (Paddy) :not worth
Jimmy O'Rourke
Jackie Macnamara
John Brownlie (never the same after his leg break)
Ally McLeod (the lazy one, but a great finisher)
Ivan Sproule (no one got bums off seats in recent years like Ivan)

Apologies to all those I've missed out - the memory's no' what it used to be.
