View Full Version : Sol on loan to Leicester City?

Apologies if this has been mentioned already but a friend of mine pointed out that the official site has Sol down as being loaned out to Leicester City...

I am assuming this is incorrect.

Can anyone shed light on this?

Probably to reduce tax or some other accounting dodge - if not just an error.

I think the words we're looking for here might be ineptitude or incompetence.

Bearing in mind that they had our next fixture listed as Celtic at home on January 15th, up until yesterday, my money would be on it being yet another error.

Whoever is in charge of keeping our website up to date is not doing their job very well.

I'm sure wee hibee will be along soon and tell us who is to blame :agree:

Like a few others at the club.

Probably the term 'on loan' will take care of the transition period between the international clearance confirmation and the transfer occurring.

It is extremely amateurish, though.

We might not be showing it on the pitch at the moment but Hibs are one of the biggest clubs in the country and for our club's official website to be so bad is not good enough.

I would even expect a third division side's website to be more accurate and reliable than that.

Click on his pic and it says he's been transferred ???

I might owe the Hibs website updater an apology.

Just been on the Leicester City website and on their squad list they have Sol Bamba down as "on loan from Hibs". :hmmm:

The thing is, I think that the company that now run our site do the same for other clubs so is it only ours they get wrong and if so why

The bit I find ironic is that there appear to be more mistakes than when it was run in house.

Is the Hibs website not run by the guys who used to run this place?

When did that change?

When did that change?

Quite a while ago, probably well over a year. Do a search and you'll find threads about it.

That is a real shame. I was a member back in the early 2000's when they left to take up the reigns. Made an instant on the Hibs site.

Was Bamba's contract up at the end of the season? I think it was if I remember rightly.

It is possible that he is on loan so that Leicester can see if he's good enough and therefore don't need to tie up an untried player on a contract. I don't know why they can't sign him on a six month contract but this is just guess work anyway.

were Dunfermline not due a hefty chunk of any transfer fee? Perhaps Hibs just wanted to avoid paying it.

We played Dunfermline two pre-seasons in a row. I would be surprised if there wasn't a deal done between both clubs, which done away with money due to Dunfermline for the sale of Bamba.

Just a theory though!

You must be getting out board confused with another.

It's already been posted on here that the sell on clause has now lapsed.

Are you claiming that someone on here actually has the inside track?!

Dogs abuse for what though? The guys ran a great forum back then and naturally moved on to assist Hibs in building a fit for purpose website, of which they did!

So again why?

Nothing, but believe it or not there are still some Hibs supporters who don't look at Hibs.net

Dinnae believe you. As for the official site, when it was being run by the lads, i felt some sort of affinity with it. Now there's nothing, it does nothing for me these days, and visit maybe once a month if lucky, just for dates of games when booking train tickets.

will agree with you Gary, passion for club was there before once it got moved to current lot it fell away, you have to fight your way through adverts to find what you want and thats a total turn off for me

I don't think it matters who runs the Official site, they will always be on a hiding to nothing. Every wee mistake will be held up as an example of gross incompetence on the part of the club and those who run the website whilst the good stuff seldom attracts praise.
However I don't find it particularly user friendly these days and at times it just seems to be no more than an advert for Hibs TV. As Blackpool says any news is usually on here first these days anyway .

If Petrie had his thinking cap on, he'd have said to Leicester, 'If you want to sign him now then we're hiking the 250k price up to cover Dunfermline's slice..........or, give us 250k to take him on loan to the end of the season and nail him down to a pre-contract when the loan ends'.

Bottom line, we get 250k to ourselves and they save money on paying a bigger transfer fee.

And Leicester get 6 months of him on hibs wages rather than the larger wage he'll have signed on the pre contract
