View Full Version : Players wages

When you look at each team's wages its no wonder the yams beat us.

http://www.football-finances.org.uk/ website shows that in 2009 they shelled out £10.5m in wages while for 2010 we paid 4.7m.

When you therefore have players who must almost without exception be earning more player for player than us then we should expect no less than what we got yesterday.

Having said that there will be occasional exceptions of 'wee' teams having runs in the cup and punching above their weight. But in the long run you get what you pay for. Livingston and Gretna lived the dream temporarily but see where they are now!

I have faith in Calderwood and Adams that, given time, they will turn things round. The worst thing that can happen is that fans judge everything on how we do against the yams. They might not go out of business as some peope hope but will increasingly come under pressure to reduce costs (wages).

What does stick in my craw is JJ! How can the man live with himself? I think he is obsessed with us and beating us and unless he beats us 7-0 or 6-2 will die a sad unhappy man. He says he does not give a toss if it was the worst game in the world - that just sums up him, their club and fans. And as for the 23 points comment! Well that just shows what a classless outfit they really are.

Sour grapes. No! It may seem that way in light of yesterday but there is a lot which is rotten in the Mad Vlad empire which makes me still glad to be a Hibee.

We were gash yesterday but if we had snuck a 1-0 I and nearly everyone else here wouldn't give a monkeys if the game was the worst game we had ever endured....

Happy New Year to you. :greengrin (I've lost your mobile number)

You've got to remember JJ is living with 37 years of hurt, it can't have been easy making your debut back in 1973, and he needs to get it out of his system somehow.

How much do Hamilton or St Mirren pay, or even Inverness?

We've already got a thread on this nonsense as it is. That's more than enough.

Don't be daft, I'd bet our wage bill is at least twice either of theirs.

I can't believe an accountant would post a link to a dodgy website

I got the following message when I used Hexham's link

This website has been reported as unsafe

On second thoughts, it is probably a ploy by all accountants to get access to your financial data :agree:

JJ has been instrumental in 3 of the best days I've ever enjoyed as a Hibee, so I've no problem in him having the odd token victory now and again. You just know before he finally retires he'll give up another famous win or two :greengrin

I don't have any problems reported with that site. What program is reporting it as unsafe? Windows or your anti virus?

The other two weren't in the SPL when the guy set the site up.
Motherwell pay around 100% of income
http://www.football-finances.org.uk/motherwell/2009/payroll2.htm
but administation doesn't seem to bother them.

The Sheepies are high too

http://www.football-finances.org.uk/aberdeen/2009/payroll2.htmYes but they dramatically reduced their payroll costs in 2010 to just £4.6m whereas ours increased to £4.8m in the same period.

The Sheepies sacked Calderwood and appointed McGhee in the 2009 season. I believe the respective compensation and signing on fees were quite high and both will be included in their wages figures.

Generally there's not much difference between their staff costs and ours - some years theirs is higher, other years ours is.

Correct CG, but I felt I needed to post comparisons and 2009 was the last available year.

I assume this year will also be expensive for them; sacking McGhee and Staff then appointing Jack'n'Victor.

Avast anti-virus blocks it too.
