We are worse than Nigerians!!!!!

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) yesterday said Nigeria is now ranked third among the top ten sources of cyber crime in the world just as it said over $557million were lost globally to cybercriminals in 2009. Speaking yesterday at the first West African Cybercrime Summit in Abuja, EFCC chairman said after the United States with 65 per cent of cyber-criminal activities and the United Kingdom with 9.9 per cent, Nigeria is the next hub of cyber criminals in the world with 8 per cent.

I cannot find the research / report that is being referred to, but I think I am right in saying that the EFCC was created in Nigeria under Nigerian legislation so its views may not be the most impartial?

What do they class as 'cyber crime' and doesn't seem that they have taken government activities into account as the Chinese are missing from this list!

It is taken from our daily sitrep and usually gleaned from Nigerian Daily papers such as Guardian. Of course, it being Nigeria it could obviously be totally made up. They do try and make it out to be a wonderful country (which it is) with wonderful people (which they are) but can be a tad parochial.
