wonder if we'll see McDonald, Tumilty and others picketing outside turnstiles on Sat, complete with burning oil drums and placards spitting at the foreign refs as they head into stadium??

"As indicated earlier this week, at Sunday's scheduled SFA monthly meeting of category one officials it was decided unanimously to withdraw availability for appointment this weekend 27/28 November"

I don't think the Scottish ref's are on strike this weekend, they are just unavailable this Saturday and Sunday.

No. They'll all be picketing at Tannadice on Sunday, before going in to cheer on their team.

It's truly heart-warming to read this unequivocal support for our Scottish referees as they make their case this week for there to be some respect for their profession.

Much of it coming from folk who by 4 December will be bellowing their fury at these same officials and calling them the **** of the earth after some of their more dubious decisions. :greengrin

Agree these refs are scabs, but should fans be going if we support the refs stand.

Surely we could have just recruited Willie Miller, Graeme Souness, Richard Gough and Roy Aitken?

Years of experience refereeing games in there. :agree:

Cosme Cunha Machado, 34, is a civil servant by trade. He has been a referee since the 1992/93 season, officiating three Liga Sagres games, four in the second tier and two in the League Cup.

In his nine games this season, he has dished out a total 57 yellow cards, as well as sending off four players.

“Machado is younger at 34 but is also experienced,” said Ben. “His most high-profile outing this season came on the opening day as Benfica went down 2-1 at home to Academica.

“Machado for the most part controlled the game well, although he did issue two yellow cards in as many minutes to Academica's David Addy, the first of which was questionable.”

Sky Sports reporting g that tge portugese officials have gone home.
I don't think the SFA have told them the reason why the Scottish game is short of officials because they have withdrawn their labour and why. You couldn't make it up. It really is time to turf all the decision makers out of office and start again. Laughng stock tostart with but now we are a complete and utter joke.

Aren't Scottish referees self-employed?

If a self-employed plumber withholds his labour for whatever reason, is every other working plumber in the country a scab?

As anticipated on the main thread, the Maltese ref is now taking the Hibs game.
