I had my Roof Ridge Tiles re-pointed and a couple re-bedded today, the work was finished about 1pm. It has now started pouring with rain (5pm), does anyone know if this will affect the cement?.

I hope I haven't wasted my money.

Wouldn't have thought so, I'd be more worried if the temperature dropped below zero tonight as concrete/cement doesn't cure properly below freezing!

Thanks Speedy, I checked the forecast and it's supposed to be fairly mild tonight. Fingers crossed!

I once made the mistake of crew changing with the deputy resident manager. I never knew at the time that he was actually a concrete engineer. Sure as hell sorry I ever asked him a question about concrete piling!!!! Four hours sitting in a hotel lobby being told about all the different recipes etc. Sure put going to college for three years to learn about cement into perspective I can assure you. Bottom line is Speedy is correct, frost is the enemy not rain.

Concrete sets due to a chemical reaction with water and would even set submerged in water.
Extreme Temperatures might cause problems if it doesn't set properly first. or high winds taking of your tiles before they've set on the concrete.

You have absolutely nothing to worry about - barring a nuclear hit of course.

Would the slater/roofer have used concrete? Surely a cement mortar for that kind of job.
