The Chandlers have finally been released after 388 days in captivity, they must be so relieved, and such great news for their family and friends. A ransom was paid, I wonder if the government intervened ?

If they did, it probably won't be publicised. (Unless, of course, the new administration has changed the policy of not paying ransoms, which I doubt).
Maybe their Euromillions ticket came up? :greengrin

Fantastic news. Not sure how many hostages they still have but maybe time for some special forces or something to get in there and get it stopped once and for all.

Officially? Nope. Via a third party? Probably.
Great to see them released, hard to imagine how tough that must have been for them.

While I'm glad these two are safe, I can't help wondering if, whoever has paid the ransom, has put other innocent people at risk. If I knew that, by kidnapping two people for a year, I was going to get £600k then I'd be more than willing to keep doing it.
Makes you wonder what the Somali and British/French/US etc governments are up to when it looks like they are channelling funds to these cretins rather than dealing with them once and for all.

My understanding is that the Somali government is non-existent.
