Just noticed there wasn't a thread about this game, so I thought I'd just say how good the all blacks are but I feel we should be doing better than we are:boo hoo:Half time at the moment 28-3 NZ

It's a mystery how the All Blacks from such a small country can be so good at this game. Odd also they are not as good at Rugby League. I was quizzing the Old Mother as to how this could be--she lived in NZ for 20 years but she had no answer other than they sleep and breath Rugby Union. Does anyone have a clue?

It's strange how the ABs have only won one World Cup - the first one which was held in NZ. They were tremendous in that tournament I recall.

Is it something to do with their temperament?

When the chips are down they bottle it somehow?

New Zealand just beat Australia last night, in Australia, to win the Rugby League Four Nations...2 years to the day when they beat Australia in the very same stadium to win the Rugby League World Cup - so, they're no bad at league :greengrin

To answer your question, your mum was basically right. Rugby here is like football in the UK - it's THE main sport by a country mile. Add to this the fact that New Zealand has a large Maori/Pacific Island population (generally, BIG laddies!) and you basically have the answer...

As for the Scotland game, I was disappointed in the end as I thought we could push the All Blacks pretty hard. As it happened there were FAR too many handling errors/knock ons/turnovers conceded by Scotland to give us any chance at all. Everytime we looked like going anywhere, someone dropped it

And to answer the question about bottling it in the World Cup...that's it in a nutshell really. People here seem to be almost expecting to win next year's World Cup, but there is a certain amount of apprehension as well. Will be interesting.
