Here's the results that have immediately followed a Hibs victory over an Old Firm team since Hibs got back into the SPL in 1999/00. Results in all competitions included, not just SPL matches;

2009-10

Celtic 1-2 Hibs
Hibs 2-1 St Mirren

2008-09

Hibs 2-0 Celtic
Hibs 2-0 Hamilton

2007-08

Hibs 3-2 Celtic
Hibs 2-4 Motherwell

Rangers 0-1 Hibs
Motherwell 2-1 Hibs

2006-07

Hibs 2-1 Celtic (Final game of season, no immediate match afterwards)

Hibs 2-1 Rangers
Hibs 6-0 Gretna

2005-06

Rangers 0-3 Hibs
Hibs 2-1 Dundee Utd

Hibs 2-1 Rangers
Dundee Utd 1-0 Hibs

Rangers 0-3 Hibs
Hibs 7-0 Livingston

2004-05

Celtic 1-3 Hibs
Motherwell 2-2 Hibs

2003-04

Hibs 2-1 Celtic
Hibs 1-2 Dunfermline

2000-01

Hibs 1-0 Rangers
Hibs 6-2 Hearts

1999-00

Hibs 2-1 Celtic
Hibs 3-1 Falkirk

Our record isn't actually too bad and doesn't really do the saying of "beat Rangers/Celtic and then lose to x, y or z in the next game" justice.

In fact, we have never lost the immediate match following on from a win in Glasgow...

Interesting to note that our record against Motherwell is poor (two defeats and one draw) after doing over one of the OF.

That's excellent work FH!

Very interesting statistically speaking and a fantastically devious way of finding another excuse, if any were needed, to bring up this result! :greengrin

You noticed that then!?

I have to say that my sole intention was to provide an interesting statistic for folk and any mention of the 6-2 game was completely accidental.

That game didn't come straight after a win over Rangers or Celtic though, which is what Hibbie_Cameron was referring to.

Some interesting reading there. And shows our record post OF victories isn't too bad.

As for tommorow Hibs v Motherwell is usually a pretty decent fixture. Both teams at least try to play a bit of football. Generally when we come up against a 'football' side we do pretty well so heres hoping for more of the same tommorow.

I'd love to see that 7-0 Livi game again. Kontes overhead kick off the post :hilarious

Also, Sproule scoring the winner against Dundee United the week after his Ibrox hattrick was a great moment.

Motherwell 2-1 Hibs

Apart from the last time we won at Ibrox. Was a sore one that day, Boozy had been on fire but was missing and Morais was harshly sent off early on IIRC. Kicked off the period of decline which led to JC's departure, iwe'd been going well til then. Good work though, as you say contradicts the claim that we always lose to a 'lesser' team after getting a result against the OF.

I noticed that earlier but hadn't got round to correcting myself yet. I had actually hoped that no-one would notice that little oversight. :grr:

Great stats as always Falkirk.

I found the Metro in my house the other day after the 2-1 win against Celtic in 2000. McGinlay & Miller scored for us on a Sunday evening.

Just after John Barnes had got the bullet, sure Kenny Dalglish was Celtic manager that night?

I remember it, was a great game.

Think our scores after beating the yams are a little less impressive.

My gran missed the 1-0 Zitelli win over Rangers and the 6-2 game from her ST that season due to an American holiday. The tickets were gratefully taken up :D
