Seems pretty strange, he's always been a very prominent figure - must be something behind the scenes here.

I wonder if Steve Clarke will be in with a chance of a return.

"Leaving with immediate effect" - been a bust-up there.

Or maybe just been punted for being boring....

I always quite liked the guy!

Incidentally and ironically, was he not supposed to be instrumental in our 1995 win at Ibrox when we got the penalty winner?

Mind you, he had a mare when the Yams beat us 3-1 in Miller's last game.

No bald personnel at ER, please. It is not aesthetically pleasing to my eye.

Nice guy.

Told at HT of a reserve game v Bayern Munich, and marched out of the Bridge with his personals an hour later!

Plenty of quotes from Anchelotti about Wilkins and his strengths!

Weird one ..

Cue Paulo Maldini?

Odd. Must be an interesting story.

I expect some Italian in. Zola or Maldini.

Not certain this is in Chelsea's best interest. Maybe Fergie should sign him up :greengrin

No doubt Uncle Festus got a nice little pay off there.

He's a very charming chap but I have to say he was a complete bore as a player and I always wondered how he kept getting top managerial jobs without having had much success at that level.

They say he was valued for his contacts in the game here and abroad.

He has only had two managerial jobs, not a great deal for a footballer of his experience. He was not really given much of a chance at Fulham.

I think his contract was up.
