Now, granted the Daily Mail isn't exactly the most open minded of publications when it comes to anything that dares to be what they perceive as "Anti-british", but this really is the pits.

I'm sure some on here may have issues with wearing a poppy, and what you perceive that it now symbolishes, and difference of opinion are what makes the world go round, but the highlighted protest is nowhere near as nuanced as that.

Just 2 bunches of bawbags, who think they are defending some sort of fundamental part of what they think they believe in, whereas all they are doing is using 2 perfectly acceptable things (Islam and being proud of being British) and completely twisting and misappropriating them to suit their own ends.

I guess this is the double-edged nature of Freedom of Speech, which I wholeheartedly agree with in principle, in action, but you'd think they both could have kept their slavering traps shut for ONE day :bitchy:

I agree with your sentiments. But bear in mind there were only 30 protestors and 50 EDL counter-demonstrators there. Hardly representative of public opinion or deserving an article all to themselves.

I wouldnt be surprised if it was jointly coordinated by both groups:rolleyes:

Wouldn't be the first time. The hard right and the hard left have been at that game for decades.

Assuming that this was not staged, I would round them all up and kick them out the country. I'm sorry but if you hate the country that you live in then GTF.

"British soldiers burn in hell!" - WTF!

Soldiers don't make policy, they do a job that they're paid to do and I doubt that 100% of them always agree with what that job is.

If you're going to demonstrate against anyone at least pick a legitimate target.

It was a horrible thing to do, but I think the response may be disproportionate to the significance of the event. I don't think these people are representative of the Muslim community in this country, and really it would be better if they were ignored.

Classic Daily Mail - the paper for Little England curtain-twitchers. They like to stir up hatred.

It sells a bundle of units.

I wouldn't agree with that. There is a right to freedom of expression in the UK, I'd be very concerned that people protesting against a war were deported.

I believe that, providing people are abiding by the laws of the land, we have to let them get on with it, no matter how abhorrent their behaviour is to our sense of what's right and wrong.

It is ironic that these people have the freedom to protest under a regime that they detest so much. However, I think that removing that right would only help to fuel their fires.

The greatest hurt we can cause these people is just to let them get on with it, and have a laugh at their stupidity.

I'm not sure we still have that in this country ? Did you read about the Tory councillor arrested for his Tweets ?
