Can anyone tell me how much my NHS dentist should charge me to replace a crown with a bridge or an implant?

I had bridge work done about eight years ago, it cost £350. I wouldn't like to think how much it would cost now. Do dentists even do this treatment on the NHS these days ?

Doesn't look like they do. £1000 for a bridge or £2500 for an implant.
Band 3 of NHS dental charges says you don't pay more than £384 for a single treatment. I'm back in next week so i'd like to know where I stand before I tell him to GTF for ripping me off.

Sorry band 3 is England, we pay 80% up to a max of £384.

Try looking here http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Topics/Health/NHS-Scotland/dentistry/charges
There's a link on that page for dentists it looks like which has charges. Jump to page 27, it starts talking about crowns and bridges there.
Not sure what that means for you exactly. I only had a quick look at the bit before the charges and it's a tad confussling.

Why didnt you ask him? :cool2:I was handed my quote on the way out, was too shocked to go back in and didn't want to sound like some moaning miser if that was NHS prices. I've found out these prices are for private treatment. Bridge should cost no more than £384 on NHS, implant not available on NHS. New dentist who has taken over practice and i'm not particularly impressed with the whole set up, so i'll be going elsewhere.

Went to a different dentist who says there is enough under my crown to fix it back on. Total cost £8.70:greengrin
