View Full Version : Assistant Manager Speculation !

Right folks !
Given our unerring ability to get it wrong.

Time for redemption..

Who do you think will be the new assistant manager ?

Given the lack of 'local knowledge' do you think ...

1. A hibs appointment perhaps a promotion for Gareth Evans or Alistair Stevenson ?

2. A colleague from his managerial career in England e.g his No 2 when he was the main man at Forrest or Northampton

3. An ex-scotland colleague ?

4. Someone else

Can the usual suspects please declare their sure fire certainties early so we can completely discount these...

I think David Kerslake was mentioned on another thread as being his assistant at Northampton and Forest. Maybe he'll go with someone with a better knowledge of the Scottish game ?

was looking through the 1998 WC squad that CC was in and one possibility may be Jackie McNamara ( Jnr obviously) . Good knowledge of the Scottish game although maybe a bit inexperienced to go in as an Asst Mgr ?

I would bet that one of the first calls CC would receive after his appointment would be from Paw Broon. CC was a great stalwart of Paw Broon's teams in 86 and 88.

He will already have a run-down on every possible candidate with a few recommendations to boot.

Gordon Chisholm will be high on that list!!:agree:

I could see them doing something like keeping on Gareth and Co, and perhaps bring in a more experienced head like John Park.

Dont see anything changing this season, given his lack of experience in scotland would be foolish to get rid of those around him, plus they seem to know there stuff!

We should make Motherwell an offer for Stephen Craigan amd make him player assistant manager. Always struck me as an astute kinda guy and worth listening to when he turns up as a pundit. May have one eye on management already but that would go nowhere at Fir Park while Broon and Knox are Still Game.

I wouldn't be suprised if Murray fancied it. He's got clear intentions of taking some sort of coaching role after his playing career is finished, already doing a bit of coaching at Junior level, and he and Hogg took a greater deal of responsibility at training as soon as Yogi left.

Would be an outsider, but not a fantastically long shot I think.

Herd that one as well. Also more interestingly I herd that he might not appoint an A.M. and that he thinks there are enough people at the club to help him out at the moment. If true could be another reason why he got the job :dunno:.

Interesting that he was track-suited-and-booted taking the pre-match warm-up today. Was he making a point, something new, or didn't trust Evans and Stevenson enough, or just maybe hoped that it was another chance to assess the players. If he got an assistant, I assume he would take a step back. When was the last time our permanent manager actually took the warm-up?
