Who's worth investing in that's likely to have their shares rise in the next 8 weeks or so?

Thanks!

What do you mean it's for property at uni? Is it some kind of project involving hypothetical money?

Go onto site like LSE.co.uk, look at some of the share risers for today and read the general chat in the forums and you might pick up some good tips on what are likely to do well in the near future.

Usually if there's an anticipated takeover/joint venture coming up in the near future it can get decent returns but can also go the other way.

I think a lot of companies have just announced their half year results in detail quite recently so you've missed the boat on them I think.

And before you think of RBS, it's unikely that you'll get any decent improvement in there because when they hit around 50p alot of people take profit and knock the price back down. Around the 50p mark is where the government can start to break even if they sell the shares.

I wouldn't touch anything at the moment TBH. Woody is right about RBS - the party started at about 10.3p () but they've been floating at 50p for ages.

The LSE.co.uk tip is a good one too. I found out about Provexis from the risers page last August and did a quick in/out at 3.5p-10.6p... but the chat boards become a bit frenzied so my advice is a) don't believe anyone; b) sell in a buying frenzy.

If you like a punt there's always the miners and drillers, but then if you like a punt you're probably as well off at the bookies.

Are you not at Uni in Aberdeen. With that kind of money at your disposal you could buy large chunks of the ****ter parts of Aberdeen, that is to say all of it that hasn't been tarted up by oil money :greengrin

I assume this is some sort of business project at Uni involving hypothetical money?? If not, I've got a nifty wee joint venture that might interest you - Giveyourmoney to Lyon Hibs PLC - guaranteed yield of sweet fanny adams. :greengrin

I was reluctant to post an individual share because I am far from an expert and I don't want people to risk their money on my (fairly novice) advice.

However, I think HAWK(Nighthawk Energy) will do well in the next couple of months. They've been going down for a while and there was a big slump when the CEO stepped down last week but they've went up a fair bit in the last 2 days and I think they will go up rather than down from now on.

I've just doubled my investment in them to drastically decrease the average share price I paid so fingers crossed.

The reason I asked how much you had to invest was because you will lose a high percentage in fees if you are investing small amounts.

Most importantly don't invest money you can't afford to lose and always do your own research rather than investing based on something you read on a messageboard.

I'm as good at the Stock Market as I am at the fixed odds. I check my shares app and all I see is minus figures, I took a punt with Connaught and they went **** up. Decided to bundle into Leicester away at Pompey last Friday as my weekend banker, it was only 6-1 for Pompey.

My advice would be, i'll send you all the things I back,,,,,then do the opposite, you'll make fortunes.

Oh! and Iweb share dealing is a good simplistic website for losing, sorry I mean investing and playing about with shares.

If there's anyone that's wanting to have a play about with shares without any risk I noticed this:

I've not tried it though. Just remember that you're decisions will probably not be the same when money is involved

There is a podcast by the Motley Fool which gives good investment tips for beginners. See also http://www.fool.co.uk/ which has a few good tips

Unless you know what you’re doing and can afford to lose money, I would consider strating off with a stocks & shares ISA.
