Contact Lenses

So I need to get myself new ones.

I usualy always just use Vision Express but I was looking around online and they seem to be much cheaper to buy them that way.

Anyone bought their lenses online and if so, any sites best to use.

I've not but had considered it so I'll keep an interested eye on this thread.

I pay £25 pcm for daily lenses from Specsavers for the Vusion lenses. They're larger than my old ones but are a lot more 'wet' and don't dry out as much.

Working in an office they can dry out quite a lot. I only wish I had the cash for laser eye surgery. A small percentage of people can end up with dry eyes though and there's nothing worse than dry eyes to make you feel groggy and tired!

It's £200 a year for mine though Vision Express, I'm not hugely keen on year long lenses but have used them up untill now, It was just a general browse onlin for contacts and the prices seembetter for sure but not sur whether to stick with an actualk opticians I can pop into etc or to go through one of the online companies.

I get eye health check ups free with my lenses and free eye tests so it might not be worthwhile for me to leave.

I'll see what some others say about the internet purchases though.

I find myselg having to buy an extra box every 3 months because mine come in packs of 30 and sometimes I'll wear two pairs in a day because they're dry or if I've been in a shower after I've put them in (I find that dries them out).

It might be cheaper for me to buy those ones on line.

Edit; I've just checked and I'm definitely going to do that. I can buy one box of 30 lenses which will get me through two weeks (my eye's are almost equally as bad only a .25 difference). You can get 30 for £10 whereas I'm forced to buy two boxes of 30 for £25 at the opticians. I just bought a box last week as well. :(

I get my eyes checked regular as I wear glasses but get the optician to give me a contact lens prescription as well(it's free). I then buy my monthly torics online for around £15 a pair. Obviously you don't get the cleaning solution as I did from my optician but I can get that cheaply enough from the supermarket. Considering I was paying £25 a month before when buying from the optician it's well worth the saving!

Do you need to send the prescription to them on am annual basis?

lenstore.co.uk is who I've used in the past. Very quick delivery, I just type in my prescription details online, select the brand of lens I want and hey presto!
Obviously customer satisfaction is quite important when buying things online, they seem to have quite a good rating!

I get the extended wear contact lenses (put them in at the start of the month, take them out at the end of the month, sleep with them in, no farting about every morning/night) which I get from Tesco, at about £36(ish) for three months' supply.

I used to get the daily disposable ones, then tried the monthly ones that you have to take out every night, and the ones I'm on just now are by far and away the most convenient and comfortable, and I couldn't recommend them enough.

I need to check that, I was being charged £22 pcm but I noticed that it was back to £25 (it was previously £25 and they reduced it! First time I've seen a company put their prices down for regular customers.). I'll ask them when I next go in.

My mate work for them so I got that price straight from the horses mouth mate, so hopefully you get it back at £22, It's only three quid but it's still that.

My mate works in there aswell. I was getting charged £22, they do have a couple of different type of lense in there. It may be that they've informed me it's going back up by letter but I tend to throw them in the bin.

I've been using Day Soft (http://www.daysoftcontactlenses.com/GB/CountryHomepage.aspx?gclid=CNqDjqfCpaQCFUc_4wodXCm P4g) for years to buy Mrs Offshore's disposable. There is usually a tick box that asks if you have had your eyes tested for contacts recently. Usually arrive within about 2 days.

I would recommend them. I read about them in an inflight Ryanair magazine and tried a month's supply, no probs since startig using them.
